wtf, broadside was awesome before skiing got discovered.. sure, after then it pretty much sucked because of the changed t1 gameplay

I still remember playin broadside for the first time, I was like holy shit when I went outside for the first time and saw these two huge flyin bases. :)

Oh, dont worry, Ill make at least one. Tossing over between Raindance or Katabatic? What would you prefer?

And dsez, been over this with uncle bob a few times, its more than likely stuff from other unreal engine games wont work.

ive talked about this with nefilim, sparky and v5planet (among the whole #stg posse).

im not one of those classic/t1 diehards but id love to help flush some of the MOST classic maps out in 3dsmax for remakes.

however, without seeing TV... it's hard to say what's even appropriate. i think there might even be 1-2 tribes2 maps worth remaking.

just understand how much energy goes into such remakes, and the mappers who make them could be spending all the energy making new stuff (perhaps more gratifying).

Its also alot harder to remake old maps. Most of us are perfectionists and cant handle getting things slightly wrong. =P

to get them right, you'd basically need to open up max or maya right now and put in a good 6 months of work.

8 months perhaps finishing 3-4 maps if you want to REALLY get them polished.

folks are gonna be in for a shock when they realize what it takes to make maps on today's engines... (im not talking about "mission editing" where you just toss some prefab structures onto a terrain)

I think they may already have the love of god.

Maybe you could offer them something else? Gold perhaps?

Is that a T1 map?
Gold would work. Platinum is also pretty.

Dont worry Tse, I have no petty dreams. I know its going to be really really really really really hard. But I have determination and a strong will on my side and I will prevail. The editor dosnt seem (really really hard) but building your own prefabs does... =(

grab maya or max tutorials (free) and dig in :)

for low poly bases you could use the bsp tools, but... might as well empower yourself creatively.

Raindance and Snowblind were the most balanced T1 maps in my opinion. The size from flag to flag was perfect. I hope T:V uses them as a model for how large the T:V maps should be.

just remember...

UT folks were demanding that small ctf maps were the future of the series and claimed that ut2k3 flailed because it wasnt focused on competition enough, etc.

Turns out that nobody gives a **** about UT2k4 ctf and folks want sprawling onslaught craziness with vehicles.

Beware what you wish for.

edit: personally, i want it all. i want the sprawling t2 shrike-oriented ctf action, the intense small ctf action, the epic-scaled siege/cnh type stuff, and every damn thing in-between.

I agree. I like small, medium and large maps if they are done right.

As far as map size, and flag defendability, yes.

Hell, after the first 6 months of competition most people took the Blood Eagle side if they could just because that hill was insanely overrated.
