GUID's are enough. UG is right, it's too much of an effort for such a small problem.

Sorry, but building a DB that stores GUID, password, playername name, and clan info would not be difficult as long as they don't try and reinvent the wheel like T2 did.

Yes, and that's something that can be done w/o sierra having to maintain a DB..

which was my earlier point that they are stripping tribes down to it's basics. Taking away all the problem points of past releases to keep their overall costs down.

 all we can do is wait. They seem to have a plan and sticking too it regardless of what the community thinks.

I think the problem is that you're repeating yourself over and over again and you're not compromising one bit. If Thrax says no to something, don't expect him to change his mind just because another dozen people repeat what was already said. True, a way to prevent others from making a bad name out of someone could be put in. Possibly a way to record the nicks that were used by the GUID and have the server decide whether to publicize the list or not could be an option. This would allow someone that has had problems being called a cheater or an asshat to go to the source and find out who the real culprit is. But registering a nick just because you feel you own it is not an affordable task to try. Think of all the people in this world that uses the same real name as you. Should they change their name just because you feel that you own it?

I personally don't care if anyone uses my name. I'll just pick another. But I want people to know that whatever name I pick is me, and whenever I see you i know it's you.

I think it's worth it. But thats my opinion.

This is one of my favorite features of PunkBuster. If you're caught cheating, admins can go in and have PB spit out any name you've ever used under your GUID.
