The video is a myth like the easter bunny and Mr. Hankey.

It would be cool it the bases could float AND move around. With HAVOC physics the sky is the limit right?

A reimagined version of Broadside with the two bases orbiting one another in attack patterns would be very interesting to say the least. The crater surrounding the bases meant for good skiing so someone can slide down, and use their momentum to jet back onto the bases.

It's a wonder natural selection hasn't claimed the lives of half the people who post here.
that doesn't mean satan hasn't claimed our souls...

I don't think there will be any floating bases. At the press confrence they were talking about how things in previous maps, from T1 and T2, just didn't fit in. Sure they looked cool, but why the hell were they there?

Broadside and Scarabrea were some of the best T1 maps, and I'm so glad someone took the time to remake them for T2. While some of you may think that they sucked, for whatever messed up reasons, they did infact rule. Scarabrea was my favorite T1 map simple because it required everyone to cooperate or suffer extreme base rape. The key there was the spacing between your generator and flag combined with the fact once you kill someone it takes them a good few minutes to travel back across (thus making the HPC's - yes you know those transport no one uses - useful).

However, I will note that since this is a fall back to pre T1 times, it makes sense to remove those elements.

Feel that Daedalus? That would be the distant glow of "Member" seeking Napalm rockets headed your way.

I think T2 removed floating bases at first because DaveG kept falling off them.

It is definitely broken. Or I just don't do it well. :)

New accounts mean nothing. If you wanna argue about it, I'm an administrator for Playspoon.com and a Former Moop which by divine right makes me cool, he he he, and old school. Geez did I say that, or just think it? Was I talking? Did they hear me?

Without any means of inflection, it's hard to be sarcastic in a mere three words.

I guess that's what smileys are for.

Just kill yourself now, before one of us has to waste time doing it.

The real question is: if there are floating bases will they crash into the ground if the generator array goes offline?

And an even better question: Are there Generators in T:V? I've seen then in SP, but no mention in the MP.

As far as T1 & Playspoon goes, I'm Mook. But because I didn't register
that name in T2 quick enough, I became "Zen Spider" formerly known as Mook. I picked Daedalus because its my current roaming name among a number of realms and I didn' expect to know anyone. Everyone I know are T1 veterans, and most have changed names so many times I can't find them.

In example, StYles of Dogma was an old buddy, but he changed his name so much I have no clue what happened to him. Fly's about the only one who has had the same name since the PF days prior to it reforming into Dogma. That and the Moops of course...although Stahl and Nthrope are like the only ones
who still pop in now and then.

Glad to see your still around, seems most of the others have run away to play PlanetSide or something equally stinky.

Ok, I'll stop being off topic. I told you I had Divine rights...So shut up and eat your cheese sandwich!

On a similar note, is it possible to have structures, when you're inside them, drop small debris and dust when a mortar goes off nearby?

Like you're in some rock-themed base, a mortar slams a turret outside. Dust and pebbles cascade from small cosmetic cracks in the ceiling.

/me is overwhelmed by a sense of sentimentality...

Long time no see!
Anyway, buize and Mznthrope are still around here somewhere, haunting GD occasionally I think, I still have contact with Flyguy on a semi regular basis... Haven't seen hide nor hair of stahl for the longest.

Ah well, enough forum fiber...

I liked Roller somewhat... it was a base that was hellishly hard to defend once people mastered skiing in heavies to any extent... and Broadside (ad nauseum) was simply WAY too easy to defend. Scarabre was probably the only T1 Base map that both floated and was anywhere near balanced (not saying it was perfect... it still was a pain in the ass to cap on, just better balanced than BS).

Some kind of happy medium between the two extremes would rock, for floating base concepts. Perhaps an open flag with a few turrets around, and decently defended generators enclosed in the base somewhere.
