Deployables should be in the game. They had concept art of a deployed inventory awhile back. I'd be incredibily disappointed if the CC was cut, considering how vital it was to smart gameplay in T1 and especially T2.

I care about skiing because its the primary aspect of a tribes game that makes tribes what it is. It's appropriate to comment on it no matter what stage the game is at.
 whatever ZP. If you think its "appropriate" to comment on balance issues on a game that hasnt even been balance tested yet then I guess you can legitimize anything.

They continue to convince me that T:V will NO DOUBT be a very successful game for both new players and vets.. Can't wait!!!!!!!!

Conference Notes:
Better Lighting
Microphone Output needed to be lowered/adjusted

Otherwise, was a great cast. Wish that first vid they showed came in a little better, but I'm sure it'll be available to download????

Great Job WOFN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know, some of the guys I've been talking to are calling it too Quake-like. Speed and smallish maps and all...

Unfortunately I can't stand on the side of the new guys who call Tribes slow. I know better, as does anyone who played competition. I don't know if it's possible to please both audiences, and that will most likely leave the smaller comp community unhappy.

They have a deployable station in the concept art.

I'm told they didn't bring any maps with deployable or vehicle stations, so they couldn't have shown those things even if they desired to do so.

This entire build was "neutered". It didn't have packs or some of the weapons.

I'm not exactly sure why you think skiing is immediately defined as only a balance issue. It's a primary part of the game that can relate to balance in regards to skiing between armors, but the aspect of skiing goes far beyond just simple game balance.

Edit: Not to mention, didn't experimental say that the physics system (which would relate to skiing obviously), was almost complete? Wouldn't that lend itself to saying that skiing was in a fairly complete state?

Experimental also noted that his physics system allowed them to adjust every aspect of player movement. That implies they have a lot of tweaking room.

And we'll have an entire open beta to voice our criticisms.

Edit: I'm not saying don't comment now. I'm just saying, don't think they've finalized anything. We'll see to it that things get changed.

Visually the game looked nice, I've never thought the Tribes series suffered from any weakness in the graphics department. Disappointed the pod was not shown, Menzo said it would be although I am certain they have their reasons. Other then that I was a little worried about hearing all the "stuff" being trimmed line. T2's command screen and sensor radar were a brilliant system. They added quite a bit to the strategy of competition. Also no deployables?

Yeah the T2 CC was and probably still grossly underated. I loved the T2 Command Console and ashamingly admit never knew it's virtues till the last half end of t2 but it's great system and worth it's salt.

If you remember T2's beta, it was really far too late to voice criticisms. Better now to get it out in the air.

Yeah the lack of a fully detailed CC was sad. Im still not convinced on the idea of only having 4 packs...We already have the E-pack and Repair pack...most likely there will be a shield pack for rapers and HoFs...so that leaves room for an ammo pack or a new pack that hasnt been revealed....I prefer having alot of options in terms of packs and deployables.

Oh, I agree. But not all developers are "locked" by beta. I hope and pray Irrational is flexible. If something is destructive to the gameplay experience, I would hope they would allow us to petition for its change. And anyways, unlike the closed T2 beta, they have to deal with the PR effect of people like us complaining. They won't have an NDA to hide behind.

As long as the radar HUD is effective, I'm not too sad, though it isn't quite the same. ;[

The energy pack, the repair pack, the shield pack...

AND

The ammo pack?
The stealth pack?
The XXXXXX pack?

Remember that the fourth pack isn't a deployable. Deployables come from a completely different station and are completely unrelated to the packs that are bought from an armory station.

I did not think the disc speed was too slow. In that, I'm not suggesting it's perfect, but looking at it on it's on I never once said, "man, that disc is just too slow"

On another note, there are some pretty funny comments from the people in GD.
You get: "This game is way too slow, I'm very worried about it." when Ed is playing
and then KP picks it up and you see the comments: "I'm worried that it's too easy to go fast in this game."

It funny b/c no matter what they do someone's going to criticize it.

Oh, and anyone who had doubts about the single player indoor maps, I hope those should be put to rest now. I really don't see anyone making a valid claim in the future that indoor maps aren't tribes. In fact, I can see entire multiplayer indoor maps being VERY fun.

Water looked awesome.

The animations of the models, the ideal stands, the movement -- looked awesome.

The game had excellent framerates (on a labtop??!) It was only jerky when the game was going fast, and that was due to the video feed not being able to keep up ;P

I have a feeling the traffic to TT will be increasing pretty soon.

No. THe work they have done was to create a modifyable system that they could later tweak on the fly. They probably have skiing near where they'd like it, but I guarentee it's a considereation in beta.

I'm thinking they may combine the sensor jammer pack with the shield pack?

I dunno tho.

My personal guess?

Ammo pack.

Passive - Carry more ammo.
Active - Generate a block of fresh ammo (like the dude in RTCW can).

KP was talking about the negative comments he hears from NEW PLAYERS or the 5 MINUTE PLAYERS. He listes 4 things. Slow being one of them.

If you are unable to set up ski route/disk jump, know everything there is to know about Tribes, YES, it's slow. This is a problem for new players. It takes them too much time to get to action and learn what to do.

Irrational/Sierra have sooooo much information based on T1 and T2, I'm sure they are headed down the path of a GREAT game, a game that has more competition than it knows what to do with, and people will have FUN playing it.
