Bullshit ... T2 had DEPTH ... Tribes: V seems to be lacking the depth ... Thrax why is this game going to excel so that teams will be playing it 3 years after release? Because you don't know enough about what you're talking about to make the conclusions you're drawing. When you have all the information then you can tell me that we've dumbed the game down, but right now you're missing all the best stuff. We (shock) actually plan to release the best stuff last. That would indicate that you haven't seen all the best stuff yet. Take your medication and your seat, and relax.

Well Thrax Ive already taken your word for it and ***WILL*** buy the blasted thing no matter what I hear to see it for myself... If I see some ability to do an non-HO base assault I will be satiated, vehicles would be ideal for this. deployables and general complexity of tactics will make me truly happy... but until then, its in your hands mister Panda.

 what extra features did T2 have over T1?How about the odd decision that there should be two (nearly identical) types of turrets, for indoor and (with coats?) for outdoor. 4 grenades. A CC that requires a degree to fully utilize. Bombers, tanks, satchel packs, not to mention the community crap.

Not that I have nightmares or anything.

I am with Spinfusor, I will buy the game no matter what. I am loving what I see so far and am looking forward to seeing more. Come summer I might need to join the straightjacket club too. :)

I take the position that it's Irrational's job to give us a stable, robust, and fun core game to play.

If anyone feels there is stuff missing from the final product, like packs, weapons, diamondsword or whatever, it can be modded in later with mutators.

So it's not really an issue in my mind.

Sure, why not?
Provided the tools are there for modders to do such things, and there is demand for it, I'm positive someone will step up to the plate.

Irrational has a great record for leaving games open for modding. Hopefully, T:V will be no exception. :)

ROFL!!

You know, the good thing about tribes 2 cc is you didn't HAVE to use it to be successful. I certainly do appreciate it though.

I've just watched these IGN videos in wmp. Wmp is the only player I can watch any video with clarity because the gamma on my monitor is fucked and everything is darker than it's supposed to be. (YEs I've tried everythign to fix this. The monitor is poop) ANyway now that I could turn up the brightness in the video feature THIS GAME LOOKS COOL AS HELL! =D

I had a big sigh of relief and even some excitement! It's far prettier than T2 and mobility looks JUST fine ... Finally indoor bases look fun! =) It's pretty pleasing and some nice shit too look at from the segments I saw! I wish wofn would put up the whole thing i can watch it in all it's glory!

LOL but the ironic part was watching the last vid (and the blood eagle light flying past in the start of the vid brought a heart flutter it looked damn cool :) but anyway, my honest to god thought was, how could this game not include a CC of some kind. That was my last thought seeing the outdoor map there. The radar is great, especially for close range confrontation, sure. Thumbs up! But there's a lot of possibilities here with the maps not to have a CC? I'd be happy with a CC that had only the best or necessary functions. Small maps are great fine, it keeps the action up w/e but I was never against big maps either and this game looks cool for both. Lots of potential.

I'm excited.

At no point in that video, anywhere, did anybody say that there would or wouldn't, be a CC. People need to stop inventing things.

From the IGN article:
The command map has been replaced with an on-screen radar that displays your key objectives and lets you more easily maintain awareness of the world around you.

I believe what started it was when KP mentioned elements like the CC among other things being "trimmed". Now I can't speak for anyone else but my original post did quote the word trimmed correctly heheh.

Hi. I've been absent for a while, and hadn't been following all the T:V news, but imo T:V looks great. I can't wait to play the beta.

IGN: "I was just curious about whether you're going to have a map in there at all, or...."

Dude: "The command map will survive."

Also, what's the deal with the T2 CC? I thought it was a big information influx, but it's basically, point, right-click, click. Wish it was a bit easier to tag incoming cappers at 800kph, but otherwise functional...

I don't think so, but I honestly couldn't guarantee that without testing. Currently TV seems easier to get into energy debt for me than previuos games (that's my normal state anyway) but I'm not sure why. It may be that I'm normally in medium and just haven't spent enough time getting used to skiing that way (I don't get as much time to play as I would like, most days I don't get to play at all). We'll certainly see what the general feeling is at the tests.

Well I suppose I'll have to live with that until we can get some detailed feedback from folks who have the perspective to be able to judge that, or until you get more time to play. ;) I'd very much like to get some head to head comparisons between folks like you and me and Nat and KP and then some rank newbies to get a good frame of reference for just how severe the curve is on that.

And that brings up an accessory question: You're normally in medium eh? Is that because you're just testing medium lots or because it's really that much more useful right now?

And last but not least, totally unrelated question but one which this press conference brought into sharp relief for me: Obviously not everyone in the community prefers the same style of play, and you guys stated early on that you recognized that. Thus far however everything we've seen in regards to multiplayer has been focused around the sports-style which the competition segment of our community champions. Is this an indication that those of us who favor more objective oriented combat gameplay are going to have to turn to a MOD or Mutator for our preferred style, or should we simply expect you to unveil those sort of gametypes at a later date?

I'll try and talk some mappers into making one. May not be about diamond sword though... Depends on how I figure the storyline out.
