Beta Question (was: Yogi, Colosus, Beren...anyone..)

Question about the demo...if you know.



Is it going to be hosted off of Sierra's website? Or here on Tribal War or off of multiple sites? Because seriously if its one of those Fileplanet exclusives im gonna SH*T Bricks. Now I understand it makes money , but when your getting left out of a game that is nearly your life, um....I dont care about buisness or money. I just wanna play.

Noone knows yet.. But you'll have the Beta probably, before the Demo.. and I doubt the Beta will be distributed over Fileplanet.

TW will know and have before anyone else, I bet. :) (The beta for sure, dono about demo)

I highly doubt the beta WON'T be distributed over FilePlanet; but I highly doubt it will ONLY be distributed over FilePlanet.

Ya, meant not "exclusively" over fileplanet. :) (the beta, demo may be, at first)

Our resourceful TW'ers will get a mirror up in no time. (which will get killed by TW and require 12 more mirrors)

And after all the killed servers, in the end, it woulda been faster to just wait in line @ Fileplanet. :p

Let's just talk theoretically about a theoretical demo (since we haven't announced that there will be one, or the timing of said theoretical demo).

But, I'm not a big fan of exclusive downloads. I am a big fan of BitTorrent. I'm also a big fan of getting stuff out to as many people as fast as possible.

Does that mean we wouldn't ever do an exclusive download? No. It just means we're generally biased against them.

It'll end up on bittorrent no matter what i'm sure, but if you guys put up a tracker yourselves you'd be much more able to track the number of downloads that you got from it. Talk to ID about their experience releasing RTCW that way in part.

I thought Thrax said they were pretty much set for a demo after beta, month or so before release?

I'm not sure he said a month before release.. but they did have plans to release a Demo. Whether just before, at, or just after, I'm not sure we got a solid answer.

not really. the open beta will probably be only multiplayer and will be for the purpose of balancing and stuff like that. a demo is the final product, but trimmed down to a short trial. it'll likely include a single player tutorial level or two, and possibly a single multiplayer map. or they might release them seperately (like single player demo and MP demo)

When you say "beta" I remember a thread from an "offical guy" asking us for our ideas for the demo version of t:V, which will also be the beta, Tribes isnt a MMORPG, it dosnt need to be publicly tested.
