Edit: I think the pod will be this odd vehicle that pubbers use to run into people.

that little scooter looks like a cool sub, but it doesn't look like it could fly.

I think having a pod looking like that might cause some confusion. Personally, if I was given a test in which I was handed a picture of the Rocket Pod and the Pod vehicle, and instructed to circle the Rocket pod, I would pick the vehicle - not the gun.

We should call it "The Happy Fun Ball" or THFB for short :P

Well think... there is going to be like 2 ground 2 air... or something like that..

So we have the rover and "pod".. I think this still leaves space for a bomber/transport... etc.

What specific function is this pod suppose to perform?!
(Beside shoots stuff) how fast does it go? I'd suppose it goes faster than flying on your own or it's worthless. Does it only hover on the ground or does it have the ability to move in 3 demensions?

Infinite jets, hmmmm ... I guess that'd be a start to having an advantage over just jet packing ... I guess. It'd still have to be faster and more manueverable than flying on your own to be worth anything imho. More manueverable as in cutting corners etc and slightly faster constant speed would be good since you should be able to get a good speed from sking anyway from what I've been hearing.

looks like the pod is as said, a huge jetpack essentially. dunno more but it looks like the cover screenshot has it lying down, with the straps where it goes around the players arms (like a bookbag) facing up
