T:V Jetpack, needs new animation.

I think the jetpack needs a new smoke animation. I mean, yeah, it looks cool in the screens and all, but not in the gameplay videos. I odn' want to be flying along and have a 30ft streem of smoke flying behing me, I mean, c'mon, thats a little excessive. and if your ever trying to do anything covert, well you can forget that casue you'll be able to see this huge smoke trail from the other side of the map. i mean really, its just too much. I like the way tribes and tribes 2 has it, as jsut a little flame or blue thingy comming out of the pack, not big, but still pleasing. So, is this smoke going to be in the final version? I feel it could ruin the experinace for me.

yeah, i agree.. the massive plumes of thick smoke didn't look to good imo.

I always loved the T2 jet stream effect. I hope they tone it down somewhat.

Before anyone else gets in, the videos were from like 35% completion stage. I agree the trails are far too long, but we haven't even seen anything recent. On the 29th we'll get some more gameplay footage, so we'll be able to see how they've tweaked it.

Can you imagine 20 guys onscreen, each with 20 foot smoke trails? FPS=1, Visibility=0, Fun=0
C'mon people, the devs aren't stupid.

Can't wait for the 29th :)

the trails in the recent screens actually are different. I don't remember which ones but you can tell they have shortened and improved them.

I wonder how much "gameplay" we will see. I mean, the whole video camera on a tv screen showing gameplay doesn't always produce the high quality results a direct output from the machine.

I hope for the best though!!!!!!

Fraps allows you to rip directly while playing, so I'm sure they can get some direct vids.

But would they wanna risk some chop? or lag? or crashing while demoing for millions (k, maybe a few thousand) of people?

My guess, this will be a demo of gameplay, and nothing else going on, on this box while doing so. (blue screen, crash or lockup would be bad.)

If they use a decent projector to project the game onto a decent-sized screen, they could get a good picture and pick up sounds/audience reaction.

Im going to guess they can change and edit the opacity/length for the jetstreams at any time very easily... so dont worry about it.

also remember that this game takes place before t1, which took place before t2. So they arent as "streamlined".

besides they look cool :D

I'm sure the demo box will be thoroughly tested prior to the news event.

Didn't help Windows 98 from blue screening when Bill Gates plugged in the scanner.
Besides, take the stick out of your ass, it was a joke.
