what are normal p4 temps?

What range should one expect a p4 to run temp wise? its a 2.6c h/t and CoD keeps freezing on me, I cant decide why

Mid to upper 30's for idle, and mid to upper 40's for under load. Of course there are many variables, like stock or aftermarker heatsink/fan, AS or default, case ventilation, etc.

With a game freezing, its probably your video card though. Especially if it just does it in one game.

run prime95 or cpuburn (google for those) and if it freezes it's probably your cpu. if not, probably vid card. possibly drivers as well.

The P4 has thermal protection circuitry, it throttles the clockspeed if it gets too hot, but it should not freeze. Look elsewhere.
