More system details. How many watts is your PSU, and what brand? Did you upgrade from a nVidia card, and did you completely remove all the previous drivers? Latest chipset drivers? Latest DX? Do you install drivers on top of drivers?

im pretty sure i removed the nvidia driver im not 100% i went to remove programs and removed the nvidia displaydrivers .. i did install driver on top of driver :x i thought they just replace each other.. psu ? i have a Elite group mother board with a p4 1.8 processor..

Installing drivers on top of drivers is a bad thing. You need to completly remove all old drivers, especially from nVidia. Get a driver cleaner, and remove them from the control panel, then use the driver cleaner. ATi has one on their website. For nVidia's you'll have to get a 3rd party one.

How many watts is your power supply? With todays hardware, you really need a good quality PSU, with at least 300w.

i upgraded from a p3 to an athlon 2200, and was told i must upgrade my 130 VOLT power supply to a 220 VOLT power supply

i don't pretend to know how much power you need or what the difference is between watts and volts but i hope that help :o

What the fuck marv... if you were using a 130V PSU when you could use a 220V, the 220V coming out of the power socket would've blown up your 130.... I think you mean Watts.

could you explain that a little better .. not sure if you're thinking of it right

Ok a power supply has 2 different volatge modes, 110 and 230 (something like those) and you can switch between them. But if you set your power supply to 110V and had it plugged into your 220V power socket, it would explode/die. When you upgrade wattage, it increases the output of the power supply, not input.

ok, lets see if i can get this simplified. if you live in the U.S. etc our power is 110v( this could be anywhere between 108 and 120 actual).

if you live in europe etc the voltage is 220v. but yes you can have 220 in the u.s. but that's not relevant to this thread.

if your pc plugs in to a 3 prong outlet with either a ground at the top or bottom(doeasnt matter which) and the other 2 poles are vertical(like this | |) then its 110v.

if it has a ground and the other 2 poles are - and | its 220 unless its hospital grade etc but thats a whole new thread.

to sum it up, what denver and invar are asking is the wattage of the power supply. its usually the bottom right # on the sticker but not always. it will probably say 300w, 350w, 400w, 430w etc.

ok my power supply says :

115/220 V - 8/4A
60/50Hz
OUTPUT: 400w

Right now its on 115 is there a way i can get it to 220 volts ? will that make a difference ?
