printer problem and another problem

Problem 1:
When I boot up, right before I enter Windows XP, I get an error message that says "sfcos.dll cannot be found or it is corrupt." I had a friend send me his and I still got the same message. I can't remember when this started, but I think it might have been when I had a virus a while back... not sure though.

Problem 2:
Ever since I moved (about 3 and half months ago), I haven't been able to install a printer on my computer. I got to "Printers/Faxes" and hit "Add Printer" and I get a message that says "Operation could not be completed." Is there anyway around this? What could cause this?

Any suggestions?

Is there an SFCOS.DLL on your system? Where?

If you suspect a virus, run a virus scan... :p

Sounds like you're missing whatever file(s) drive the Add Printer Wizard. I couldn't begin to help you with that short of recommending an OS Repair.

OK... did you do a search? Sometimes the DLL just needs to be placed in the right folders. You can also download a lot of DLL files from the web. Google for it.
