Looking into getting a new card to replace my gf4 ti 4200 128 mb....

around 100-200 price range. i haven't been keeping up with anything lately so i am completely lost.

I don't care if it is ati or nvidia. (ati will work same with athlon xp proc and gigabyte 7vrxp mobo as a gf will, right?)

So what is a great deal now, or when should i wait , or should i just keep my gf4 and get more ram or something .

heh.

ATI Radeon 9600 XT

It's $150-190. I'm personally waiting for it to drop into the sub-$150 range to get one.

I don't think it's worth it for you to upgrade from that.

Yeah this is what my main point is. The card needs to last me well into the future and be a giant leap in power over my current one. The radeon data mentioned is a good deal, but does it fit the above criteria? Mabye not.

Go with the s3 unicrome 64mg card

you will get awsome shitty graphics.

j/k 5700 u or 9600xt

Both of those are decent cards, but it's not worth the upgrade from what he has currently.

just hold off, your card is good enough for now. dont upgrade until T:V comes out.

okay. what do you guys think about upgrading from 512 mb of ddr ram (I think it is pci 2100 ??) to a gig? about 100 bucks for a stick of 512 on newegg... might be wrong type though.

I used to think 512 was an insane amount, but is a gig what is really needed in today's gaming environment?

Unless you want to spend an ass load of money for little performance increase don't buy anything right now. Wait about a year and then start shopping around.
