I would like to start a thread where people can give in detail some map ideas they think would be good for the new game ! These could always be created later by someone, or maybe the dev team ?
Anyways, please begin.

Id like to see some sort of Ruins with lots of broken building and crashed vehicals, lots of places to take cover and that sort of thing. that way you could be walking through the remaines of a few buildings and before you know it a bunch enemies jet vertically up out of the various nooks and crannies.

Base turrets should be renamed super laser turrets and should autokill anything within a 2000 meter radius. Bases should be 10,000 meters apart. It should require a coordinated effort of several 5 man strike teams to take down automated turrets and penetrate the enemy base. 5 players should have to memorize cryptic sequences, do them all in succession, and morph into voltron to take down base turrets, so they can have the privilege of forming a 20 man strike team into the enemy base that's 20,000 meters below the surface. They should all have to destroy 20 different generators, at precise times to deactivate the *super* force fields guarding the flag in the heart of this base. Then and only then may they grab the flag and through many different complicated procedures escape their base and eventually cap.

Well, one idea of mine is this.
Imagine CCD, canyon crusade deluxe, but make the map like a real grand canyon where the players are playing in the canyon. You can get to the top of the canyon by DJ in light maybe. There would be streams in the map. two bases, maybe a midpoint objective, not sure about that tho, since some dont like a objective in the game, but thinking the objective would be a pulse sensor control station that controls a pulse sensor thats in the sky. I would like the bases either built into the canyon, or perhaps underground where it would be pretty difficult to say wreck gens, but flags would be positioned outside. I think there could also be ruins of bases outside, that could serve as obsticles, but the main base would be fairly secure in terms of someone trying to rape it. It would be possible, but fairly hard, sorta like scarabrae in terms if someone is de, it would be hard to take out gens/cap flag. The flag would be more open tho and it could be designed to take into account different flag positions. You could even have a balanced map, if your creating a mirror image, tho this isnt neccasary.
Also, not sure if this has been asked yet, but will it be possible to code the map where you could have map specific inventories ??? I mean, where certian maps have certian items that are map specific ? That would be neat. Just another though.

I do like a ship graveyard, maybe in a water/dessert type play field, that would be neat. And oil platforms for bases. If you fall in the water, u will more then likely sink, but maybe have special packs for breathing underwater or something ? Hurm. That could be pretty kool.
Also, maybe the first tribes watercraft ??? Im thinking a pontoon type vessel ? what do yall think about that ?

well, i think its going to play like tribes with a tweaked UT engine and going to be beautiful. What more do you need to know. Just think about how the classic tribes plays, or tribes 2, ack, and think what truely would be a good, fun map, that you could play for 5-10 years before the next game is released ??? And thats what were doing here. Tribes is still going after 6 years, u need anymore proof this will be any different ? I think if they do a mix between tribes/tribes2, the game will be perfect, plus the inclusion of this unreal engine is going to rock. I just want NICE maps. And i think maps will very much be game type specific. If you have CTF, with the multiple flag positions like I posted here,

then those maps will have to be designed for that type of game. I dont think the maps will port very well for other game types like LT.
