But that's not the point. 3rd person weapons are lower poly/res because not everyone, including me, can afford to buy a fucking new vid card because I have some shitload more important moneyholes to take care of. ugh, this applies for skinning i'd imagine..... so you have to skin something twice so it can show up in your hand and in the other persons.... or does this only apply to models?Correct. The model and textures are completely different for your weapon and other weapons. Since in tribes you rarely see the other guys weapon up close we can save polys by making simplified 3rd person weapons.

No you don't. The same map can be applied to the other skin.

I bet they have a weapon skin and an arm skin.

The weapon map is for the first and third weapons, and the arm skin is for the first person arm.
