I'm trying to edit the FlagHUD inside viking pack.
Heres the original file: Here (http://ef.aveit.org/org.bmp)

I've downloaded TribesTools, and converted from PBMP -> BMP and edited the GUI to how I want it
Heres the converted file: Here (http://ef.aveit.org/conv.bmp)

Then I realise i must convert it back, after lookin around in tribes tools, I figure if i click on make skin, there is an option to select the palette as interface.. so i figured thats what I want, and on the slide bar, theres transluciant image.. and that again is what i want....
So I make that and up up with this (http://ef.aveit.org/edited.bmp).

Thinking this should work?
But it doesn't
...

anyone point me in the direction please.. I am sure I once read you could download a palette or something and put it in to photoshop and just edit them directly, but after googling all I can find is broken or dead links, or skinning sites with no tutorials...

Thanks

Nikita

The palette for your edited file is not Interface. When using Makeskin+ set it to use Trans|RG instead.

you'll be wanting to use the trans|RG or trans|BW pallette in tribestools

I am sure I once read you could download a palette or something and put it in to photoshop and just edit them directly

what i've been doing is using PSP7 (trial  ) then pressing shift+o to select a pallette - then still convert it again in tribestools using the same pallette and setting the transparency/whatever

if you want to do it that way you'll just need to get psp and maniacals pallettes

Get PSP for the sole purpose of applying the pal files to your BMPs for Tribes. Photoshop will not work for anything other than reticle (if even, I can't remember) and weapon skins.

You can do it with PS. Although I can't remember exactly how and don't currently have PS installed. :|

It is much easier to just use psp tho.

PS completely screws up the indexing of the regular palettes. If you can, just get a demo version of PSP just for the purposes of applying the palette.

Ya, i noticed that too, with PS you can only do weapon skins. And for reticles, I use Paint for that, it's the best and simplest to use.
