I didn't know I had to. Never had the need. Thanks for your concern. But in this arguement, you can't do that using esdf either. So your point is moot.

It is not moot, I am showing why your listing of keys you can use is inaccurate.

I listed the keys that you could use while maintaining correct hand position. Then you said I did not know how to use a keyboard. Now I have shown that your listing is inaccurate. Which takes us back to my first post: more letter keys are readily available with esdf.

WASD config (for compatibility sake) mapped to my N50. :weird:

Tfgh :]

You obviously don't use an ergonomic keyboard ;)

aswd is the best way to go, it makes it easiest to use the pinky to full effect (the buttons to the left of aswd are big and well placed.

No. You obviously missed my point.

You can use an entire keyboard with either layout. It all comes down to comfort.

Why not just have one of those frontend configs before you start the game, where it autopicks everything, and then just have a control tab with nothing selected and have it state: WSAD / ESDF / CUSTOM and you get to pick. Or do you have to print a default in the manual?

Also, I'd just like to say for the most part, control - _ commands are worthless. To me anyways, they always seem to take longer than 1 button press. Ctrl-k for example, while it's a great line, pressing k is just so much better. And ctrl-f to drop the flag is a lot of work compared to the ease of say the middle mouse button.
I've never had 1 button drop for my pack and weapon, but I'd like one, so next time I'm going to find the keys for that. Oh, and dropping ammos is important too.

You COULD use an entire keyboard. But there are more keys with esdf that you can access without moving your hands from the crucial movement keys.

I use a DDR pad for movement, and I aim with a 3d mouse.

but you have to scrunch your hand up to reach the column of keys to the left of the movement keys (qaz) and stretch out of position to reach the tab, caps lock, shift and control keys. with the aswd setup you don't have to stretch or scrunch to use your pinky effectively.

WASD, i remap the number keys for anything i need because mouse wheel > number keys for switching weapons...

I use ESDF for Tribes and Tribes2, but use WASD for all other games

wtf does grammer have to do with which set of keys is more useful?

WASD, because it allows easier access to shift+, ctrl+, alt+ modifier keys. Very useful in a game like Tribes where you need to have so many keybinds and preset player load-outs saved for quick selection. One thing I hope that gets carried over from T2 is it’s ability to define player load-outs to shift+numpad, ctrl+numpad etc.
