I want to get some of my t2 demos turned into movies -so I can just take various clips from them. What's the best program to either record the demo to a movie format as its playing? Or is there another way to do it?

www.fraps.com can covert real time to AVI format..

Otherwise you need a T2 script, that will OUTPUT screenshots at 30/sec and then you'll need VideoMach to piece them all together in a movie.

Fraps will give you in game sound, screen shots won't. :)

PJ's T2 scripts to make movies clips via screen shot method, other cool features..
Download and install the ALLINONE, but just unselect everything except the Movie Script and Support package.. Should be good to go.. :)

Alright, so I went with FRAPS. I have the raw video dump, now I just need to compress it. So, what is a good program do to this, I know there are many out there, but what have you guys found to work best? Also, as far as video editing goes, any suggestions on programs?

Maybe Adobe Premier for editing? Not a free or easy to use program. :)

I'm not key on compression. Maybe Fraps has the ability to use certain codecs? And encode through those, using compression? Not sure.. Good Luck.. Check that link Buize gave you, looks pretty good.

Trying out the things suggested from the link in Buize's post. As my graphics card is too slow for FRAPS (yay for Radeon 8500). Hmm, wonder if LostAngel will see this thread, or anyone that has put together one of those larger movies...

EDIT: Thanks for the help thus far, it's given me a place to start. :)

There's no program that converts demos to avi's directly, other than using Fraps.

I think it'd be tough to get the sound, maybe using the wav recorder to record what you hear, not sure.

Otherwise, you really have to use PJ's or another script for outputting sections of your demo to screenshots, then using video mach to assemble them to a movie. Then since you won't really have the in-game sounds, you'll have to sync up with some music from an mp3 or something.

Editing and effects, like I said are typically done in Adobe Premier. That's once you've compiled the screent shots to an AVI/MPG. :)
