Why I think lights with 2 weapon slots are more interesting than lights with 3!

I like the idea of only 2 weapons for a light, 4 for a medium, and 5 for the heavy.

This forces people to think about light roles, encourages the use of the medium, and the heavy will stay the same.

I guess the only reason I think I'd like to keep medium at 2 is b/c a tribes game without a class that has 3 weapons is hard to let go. But change can be good.

Now there's the issue of what would you spawn in? Still a light with 2 weapons? A medium with 4 slots and 3 weapons, leaving the 4th open for an easy pickup? A choice?

Also, 2 weapons is good b/c it's like halo, and then all the halo players will be tricked into thinking they're playing Halo ;o

i think people should ALWAYS spawn in light w/ a minimal loadout. that's a huge aspect of tribes to me. i was always so impressed by the players and how they could preform with just chain/disc/blaster.

but now T1/T2 lights are T:V mediums. so knowing that now, do you wish the T:V lights to be the base spawn? or the T:V mediums? thinking about this i'm not exactly sure. i keep thinking that we should spawn as lights because 1) i know for 90% of time, people never bothered with teh blaster anyway, so that third weapon on spawn isn't a big deal. and 2) because they are the fastest and thus better suited to chase after a capper on a moments notice.

i dont like this idea. forcing people into specific roles sounds too much like planetside. why should we "force" people to choose a role by limiting his weapons. The thing that makes tribes better than other games like planetside and battefield and games like that is that Tribes doesnt force you to choose specific roles every time you spawn. You wanna be a capper/sniper/ld capper/raper/sniper ect ect, you can, if you wanna force people into specific roles so bad why dont you just have specifoc classes like "sniper class" "capper class" "LD class". I think the option to take whatever 3 weapons you want whenever you want is one of the main reasons the Tribes series is so fun. It doesnt try and tie you down to specific roles. You wanna try and inprove the medium class? great....find something else that makes it unique...dont try to make more people use it by screwing over the light armor. thats just not cool.

so its choosing 2 weapons instead of 3. that wont stop me from making a cap run and still being useful for something else before/after. what it does do is promote the use of weapons you can use effectively. personally, i like having the extra versatility that a third weapon provides - but im more than willing to sacrifice that for better movement. open your eyes, 2 weapons on a lighter than light armor isnt really a bad thing. like people have said, if the medium is a t1/t2 light, why the hell are you bitching about the light? just use the medium if you want the same type of thing. oh, thats right.. youre too close-minded.

whos bitching about the light? im saying restricting the amount of guns for the light is forcing people into roles. no one is being forced to do anything.. what he's saying is that if oyu like that versatility, use the medium.
if you want more speed, then you sacrifice that versatility and take a mroe specific role in the light-light armor...

well, i guess that depends, if you take disc+chain to a duel, you're a chain whore.. but if you take a disc+gren launcher, you're a good dueler... gotta love how that would work with 2 slots..

youre demonstrating your ignorance. youre bitching about carrying 2 weapons, which would be a light-specific feature - hence, youre bitching about the light. someone said 2 weapons forces someone to choose a single role - this is quite wrong. it just requires a higher level of competancy to perform multiple roles, which isnt a bad thing. unless, of course, you suck*. im kind of confused - how does a light only being able to carry 2 weapons somehow prevent them from choosing whatever weapons they want to fit those slots? i suppose youd bitch just as much if the medium can only carry 3 weapons instead of 4.

for dueling, thats fine.. as a capper, i think id usually go with disc + chain, just for the versatility. a chaingun is useful against both air and ground targets - nade launcher is just ground.

Right, we don't need even numbers, and the heavy has to make up for its lack of agility with a vast arsenal. A light can change out weapons with reletive ease compared to the task it would take for a heavy.

im not bitching about anything you friggin idiot. open your fuckin eyes*. all im saying is that with two weapons you tieing people down to a specific task. how do you not see this? Its a given everyone will take the spinfuson, its perfect for duel and an easy weapon to kill with. that leaves just one other gun...now according to you a person can still do multiple roles...im sayin its too restricting. Theres no way to snipe and rape if you cant take a laser rifle and plasma in addition to the disk launcher. You say "well then go med armor" kinda hard to go med armor with a laser rifle. An i never said only having 2 guns limits what weapons you choose in your loadout. im saying your loadout goes hand in hand with the multiple roles. since you can pick whatever guns you want you can choose whatever roll combo you want. quit sayin im the one whos bitching when you cant understand a simple concept.

Well... whatever, I already know my new loadout: Disc/CG (so far)

I don't see me chasing(LD) with anything other than that, except maybe a stayhome LD with Disc/Sniper. I have faith in the dev team though... so I guess we'll see how it turns out :D

I still hate non-unique names though :\
