Im looking to buy a working 20, 40, or 60GB HD. I recently got a AMD K6 system for a friend just to goof around on and need a hard drive for it. If anyone has one im willing to pay up to about $65 bucks. :)

new 80GB drives are $75 and those come with 8MB caches.

And that 8mb cache is really going to increase the performance of a k6 system.

....*sarcasm*

actually, it will. you realize that hard drives are pretty much ALWAYS the bottleneck for computers, right?

especially if that K6 system has low memory and there's a lot of paging involved.

:o

OH SHIT.

but in any case, the only reason i listed 8MB cache was to emphasize the point that he could get what he needs for LESS than $75. :ftard:

True I may look in a 80 but maybe I will get lucky and someone on TW will be wanting to sell one.

go to www.newegg.com and look at the price and size of the hds.

seagate 40GB 7200 rpm 2MB buffer, $57.50 (1 yr warranty)
seagate 80GB 7200 rpm 2MB buffer, $69 (1 yr warranty)
maxtor 40GB 7200 rpm 2MB buffer, $57.00 (1 yr warranty)
maxtor 80GB 7200 rpm 2MB buffer, $70.00 (1 yr warranty)
western digital 40GB 7200 rpm 8MB buffer, $61.50 (3 yr warranty)
western digital 80GB 7200 rpm 8MB buffer, $74.00 (1 yr warranty)
western digital 80GB 7200 rpm 2MB buffer, $66.50 (1 yr warranty)

you'd be an idiot to pay someone else $65 for a smaller used drive.
