Ok, I had 2 Wisdom teeth surgically removed last Friday. Today I grabbed the wrong bottle of pills when I came into work, and now my mouth is hurting. The prescription I was give was for Percocets (which have done a good job at providing relief for the pain). Today I grabbed a bottle of Darvocets I had from some previous surgery or something.
Can anyone tell me what the differnce is between the two? Will the darvocets work?
I tried finding this info online and all I can find is a bunch of people trying to sell these pills. Any help is appreciated.

Lies! I'd take oxycodone (percocet) over PROPOXYPHENE (darvocet) and I don't personally know anyone who would disagree. :shrug:

a bit of advice: for NSAIDS are the drug of choice for bone pain
naturally your mouth is cut up so there is soft tissue pain as well but after getting wisdom teeth cut out there is a considerable amount of bone pain
they dont often prescribe NSAIDS after the surgery because in theory they can make the bleeding a little worse and more prolonged
after a day or so it should be fine to take and NSAID
translation: take 600mg of motrin or advil (ibuprofen)
it wont make you feel loopy or euphoric, but it will make it HURT LESS - most people would report that the actual pain relief is better
save your percocets till when you feel better :satan:

i doubt you will even feel the darvocet but it wont hurt to take it if you dont get satisfactory advil results
(btw 600mg is three over-the-counter advils, and if youve eaten something lately go up to 4 -800mg)
advil can be a bit rough on the stomach if you havent eaten, and this is often the case in your situation
ive eaten soup... im so sick of soup .. bleh.
I just took 2 advils... all I could scrounge off someone here in the office. 4 hours left.. then I will go home and I have some 800mg ibprofens there. Its not excruciating pain at the moment, just painful to talk, which unfortunatly I do have to do at my job.
Maybe I will go ahead and pop one of these darvos as well..

lol, the percocet has been great for feeling "out there". For some reason I get real real itchy about an hour after taking them. I have also had problems staying asleep after about an hour or 2 of sleeping after taking one. In the beginning I was taking double the dosage of the percos.... and I was pretty much out of it for the first 24 hours. I was also knocked out when they took my teeth out.. laughing gas + intervienious seditave = rock!

old_skul 11-11-2003, 02:51 PM Advil is your friend. You don't want pain? Just take some Advil Liqui-Gels. Two (or even one) did the trick for my wisdom tooth pain last week. I'm over it now and have a nice fat bottle of Percocet (I think I have like 35 of the 5/325 pills left).
Percocet is a nice "I'm going to stay home for the rest of the evening" drug. Just put a log on the fire, put on a nice movie, grab a glass of wine, and see how long you can stay awake.
When your skin starts to get itchy, put on a nice pair of jammies, and take another tab. Enjoy. You're gonna fly. Remember, try to see how long you can stay awake. It helps to get up and move around if you feel sleepy, and a cup of coffee helps (a little).
Percocet = class II for a reason. It's about 7 to 8 times stronger than Darvocet, according to this article (http://neuro-www.mgh.harvard.edu/forum_2/AddictionF/easyenough.html).
