Okay, about 2 months ago I was whining to Mac (other guy that lives here) about how paying $900 bucks a month was killing me. Usually we split this place up between three people (its a big place) but we hadnt found anyone to move in for a few months, and I was paying 2/3rds of the rent. So I was just whining, usual crap people talk about, and I figured I spent like $3000 in rent the past few months, so hey, LETS GET A ROOMMATE ALREADY. Mac laughs and says "Hey man, I got some extra money and I'll kick in and help you out." Hey cool, thanks Mac.
Well a week or so later, Mac throws me like 500 bucks. I'm like "Fucking A thanks dude! That helps!" And I throw it in my account and wind up spending it. Well two weeks later rent rolls around, and I go, "Hey bro, need your rent, gonna go pay it in a few..." Mac looks at me in shock and goes, "Dude I paid you a coupla weeks ago..." I'm like... huzzah? Then I go, wait a minute.. that 500 you gave a few weeks ago was for rent?? And he says yeah. Well this fucked me up completely cuz A) I've never collected rent from anyone before the 5th of the month, and B) Mac never told me it was rent, he said he had some extra cash to kick in to the $3000 I spent in the past few months. Well, turns out that $450 of that was Mac's rent, and the rest - fifty bucks - was "extra" to help me out.

So now it was rent time, and I already spent what Mac had given me. It was a miscommunication on our part, and was basically just a fuckup. Miscommunication. But since I'm not working (like Scooby seems to make a big deal about) I dont have the cash I usually have for such emergencies. The money I make right now is enough to pay my bills, that's it. (Unlike the old days where I had 10 grand in the bank at any given time.) So I'm basically fucked. It's the 5th of the month and I'm short on cash. So what I did was I told Scooby that if he kicked in 300 bucks and save me the $50 late rent fee and the humiliation of having to tell my landlord I dont have his rent, that I would pay the rest of Scooby's $100 in bills for the month of November. I told Scooby it would take a week to get him his cash back. Not a bad deal really, it saved Scooby $100.
My check got mailed to me late, and it took longer than a week to pay back Scooby. I talked to him and told him the deal about the late check, and gave him $60 for spending cash or whatever. My check finally came through and cashed a week after I expected it, and I gave Scooby the rest, $240. Well, I didnt keep my word of only borrowing it for a week, it was just short of two weeks. I wound up not looking like an asshole to my landlord, and Scooby saved $100 on bills cuz I paid for his share of the utilities. Not a bad deal, is it? I apprecited Scooby helping me out, and told him so. I was really bothered with having to look like an asshole to my landlord and Scooby's $300 helped me avoid that. I paid 100 bucks of his bills to show my appreciation.
