This entire thing is just proof that some people are so wrapped up in their computer world that they've forgotten what it's like to be human. Forgotten what it's like to be a friend. Forgotten what it means to interact with other human beings in a civilized way. Scoobysnack is like a case study of an empty shell of a man who is nothing away from his computer. Scoobysnack is so tied up in this TribalWar persona that he isnt even a fuckin man anymore. He's an empty shell that is worthless if there isn't a monitor or a forum nearby.

The entire episode is proof of it. What I asked from Scooby was simple common courtesy. That's all. A hub was missing from my house and it was obvious that Scooby took it. The hub wasn't "Scooby's hub", it wasnt a "loaner" left by Scooby, it was a piece of equipment donated to the house, like other people have done. It's been here for 11 months, in use the entire time. It took a while to remember that Scooby was the one who bought it, and once I remembered that, it made a little more sense. But it didn't explain why Scooby couldn't have given the common courtesy of talking to me about it when he left. At least it removed "outright theft" from the list of things to assume, though.

To put this in perspective, I'll explain the details of this. For starters, Scooby has been living from house to house for years now. He has had a dozen jobs and residences over the past few years. Most of the people he's lived with cant fucking stand him, and they warned me about him. There are very few people he's left on good terms with, for one reason or another. Some of those people actually stepped up to warn me not to let Scooby stay here, but I'm not that kind of person. I deal with people on a one-on-one basis. I'd never had a problem with Scooby and I wasnt going to assume I would have one simply because he got into a squabble with someone else.

When Scooby messaged me about moving to Reno, he asked for a place to crash. I told him that I wasn't sure since I had some other things going on. Then I took him into my confidence - actually swore him to secrecy and asked him not to make a forum spectacle out of it - and told him that I was helping out MadCat the same way Scooby wanted me to help him out. MadCat was scheduled to move up here in the middle of October, and Scooby said he needed a month to get a new place, starting on Oct 5th. What I wound up doing was putting off MadCat - much to her disappointment - and delaying her arrival for another 2 weeks. All to help out Scooby. Meanwhile people are telling me things like "He'll fuck you for money" and "He'll take stuff when he leaves", but like I said, I take people on a face-to-face basis, so I ignored what people said about him.

Around the middle of the month I was going to go make a bank deposit, and I had some checks and $350 in cash on the downstairs counter, next to my keys. I went upstairs to do some stuff, and Scooby was up there getting ready for work. He took off for work, and then a few minutes later I went downstairs to leave myself. When I got downstairs tho, the money on my counter was gone. The checks were still there, my keys were still there, but the cash was *poof*. I knew that Scooby had taken it. It wasn't misplaced, it wasn't Mac, it wasn't the cat, it wasn't someone who snuck in the house. Scooby took it. So I call Scooby at work and I'm like "doubleyew-tee-eff mate?", but he tells me he doesnt have it. Well, I know he has it. I tell him to check his pockets, check his wallet, check his balls, cuz the money isnt in the house. He says no, he doesnt have it.

Well I consider all this, and I for dead goddamned sure that he has it. But it doesnt make any sense to me. If he tried to steal it he would have to have known I would know it was him, and why would he try to steal it anyway? He just got a new job, a coupla thousand bucks of his equipment was sitting in my house, it just made no sense that he would steal it. So I'm talking in IRC to certain people who know Scooby fairly well, and I'm like "Hey... you think Scooby actually took this cash on purpose?", and every single one of them said either "yes" or "probably". Well that wasn't very reassuring, but I was still ready to give him the benefit of the doubt. I start mulling over my options. I know he took the cash, but was it an accident? Was he playing a game? Was he really trying to rob me? Should I call the cops? As I'm mulling over all these things, I call Scooby again and I tell him that the cash is NOT in the house, and that either he or Mac took the money, and it makes even less sense if Mac took it. Scooby gets pissed off and hangs up on me. Well, now I was really faced with a dilemma. As I'm going over and over everything in my head and weighing my options, people are giving pretty damned terrible character references to me in IRC, and I'm generally disgusted with the whole thing. However, about 30 minutes later I get a phone call and it's Scooby, saying that he found the cash in the console of his truck. He explained that he must have taken it by accident when he left the house.

Welp, I gave him the benefit of the doubt, even though everyone was saying "He was busted so he gave it back." I gave him the benefit of the doubt.

So when the hub was gone, Scooby's stuff was moved, I started to remember the missing cash incident and everything that people told me on IRC about Scooby. I was going through all this in my head, reproaching myself for poor judgement of people, listening to people say "I told you so", and writing the hub off as a loss, but then I remembered that Scooby had bought that hub 11 months ago and it made more sense. He basically took back something that he gave. (Ye Olde Indian Giver) Well fuck, if he would have said something about it to begin with, I wouldnt have thought it was "stolen" and I wouldn't have stressed at all. If he would have simply said "Hey man, I need a hub for my new place, I'm gonna take this one back, cool?", the answer would have been, "Oh yea, you bought that one, huh? Okay cool." And the matter would have been done. No guesswork. No thoughts of stealing. The entire matter would have been avoided. That's why it's called common fucking courtesy.

So once I realized it wasnt "stolen", I sent Scooby a message in IRC - a private message - the one he posted here. I mentioned that I know he bought it, but he could have said something to me about it instead of walking off with a piece of equipment that has been here for 11 months. A while later Scooby messages me back, choosing to curse me out and take on the Tribalwar Internet Toughguy routine. Instead of approaching me man to man, Baron to Rey, and stating his case, he curses me out. It was at this point that I told him to go fuck himself. Even if I was wrong by expecting him to say something about the hub before he took it, he could have shown me the errors of my ways by saying, "Hey dude, I never gave that to anyone, I just left it there. It was mine!" or whatever else. Instead, he had his usual trouble of seperating Tribalwar from real life, and chose to curse me out with the toughguy routine instead.

After our private conversation in IRC, Scooby then chose to completely breech the friendship between us by telling Moker (and whoever else) about MadCat moving to Reno. Why? Who knows. He knew it would piss me off to have the douchebag fraggles and koys of the forum making their insults and assumptions, so he went ahead and told everyone. Hence this thread.

The saddest part of all of this is most of the people who frequent this forum havent a clue as to what "common courtesy" is, and will say I'm "overreactiing" or whatever. Well, I'm going to state again that although I may have been part of many dramas in the gaming scenes, its ALWAYS been centered around GAMING. There has never been a single instance of my personal life on a forum, ever. I might have knocked heads with gaming ladders, leagues, admins, and organizations, but I've never once had my personal life put on the Internet. Why? Because it's none of your fucking business. I asked everyone who knew about MadCat moving to Reno to keep it quiet for a reason, simply because I knew the forum douchbags would start their insults. And who really feels like reading such dumb shit? I don't. It's boring.


Scoobysnack is an empty shell of a man who is nothing - NOTHING - away from his computer. He's not a friend, he's not a pal, he isn't even a very good acquaintence. It's a damned shame that I didn't listen to everyone beforehand and take their word on him. But hey, I gave the guy the benefit of the doubt. Shame on me.

- Contrary to what Scooby says, when I quit TW Fame because I didnt consider getting tk'd for an hour as "practice", I was asked to return my most of the dudes there. I chose not to. I offered to play in matches and scrimms, but I wasnt going to sit around and be tk'd for an hour while we "practiced" :rolleyes: Not fun. Not productive. Too frustrating. I'll pass.

- The reason that TW Fame was knocked down 30 rungs was directly because of SCOOBY and MOFO, not me. Their conduct on the forums got the team banned, not my post about the TWL. Also, if my TWL post was so bad, how come when I pasted it into the TWFame private forums for review nobody said, "Hey dont post that, what are you nuts?"
