umm... gf4 128 MB?

should i vote in gf4 or fx?This is just one of the many issues with trying to figure out this crap. For instance:

GF4MX < 64MB GF2

GFFX 5200 < Maxed out GF4

Not to mention the questions about where to categorize an ATI 9000 or (shudder) a Matrox card

Take your best shot. Either is fine.

G4 TI 4200 128 MB , will this run T:V fine ?

Yes, as long as your PC doesn't drag the whole thing down.

I have a unique situation... I voted GF4/GF4 64MB.

What I have is a 64MB ATi Radeon 9000 mobility.

Yes, you read that correctly, the only computer I have for gaming is a Laptop. The only other computer in the house I have a shot of playing T:V on is my HTPC which runs an 64MB AIW 8500DV.

Yeah me too here.. Last time I upgraded my PC was 2 weeks before T2 came out, and I won't be upgrading it until similar time with T:V (no need IMO to upgrade before then). Although since then I have got a laptop which is outstrips my desktop loads, and so I play newer games on that anyways at the moment ( Gauntlet :) ) .

To state the obvious, as I don't think anyone else has, but this would be a bad place to take such a pole. I mean, everyone here plays T2 etc + other games. Pretty dedicated gamers, thus thier boxes are much better then the avg joes out there who only play CS in their boxes that are 5 years old, and have dreams about a GF2MX-32.

In troubleshooting problems that Legends players have we most frequently run into issues with old hardware or outdated drivers. I was amazed to see how many people are still running sub 1ghz PC's with GF2 or (usually) less powerful video cards. My system is below the median performance curve, but compared to alot of the "average" gamers out there, I'm running a monster rig.

Yah. I feel way behind the times with an Athlon XP 1600+/Radeon 64/256 -- but for T:V to "beat Half Life" it woud be best to have it scalable to at least 800mhz and a TNT2 or Voodoo4/5. (Which, strangely enough, won't even play Tribes 2 competitively).

The Unreal engine is very detail-scalable so it shouldn't be a problem. Torque had many bugs and incompatabilities from not being properly beta tested. (Dave thought it was fine if it only worked with the latest driver builds on old cards--as though the average gaming novice does regular driver updates). This engine is much more established--not only within NVIDIA and ATI who make a point to write drivers with it in mind but also among gamers.

Voodoo's need to freaking die, I can't believe anyway still uses them after 3dFX has been gone for almost three years. Voodoo's didn't work in T2 and they still don't work in Torque, but frankly it shouldn't matter cuz they suck and they're old, I see no reason why T:V should scale to accept them, especially since when it ships Voodoo's will be FOUR years old, thats a freaking long time. By then GF4 MX's will be 40$... oh wait they already are.
