Diablo Escobar 11-05-2003, 12:28 PM plz plz plz pl zplz Ixiterra 11-05-2003, 12:48 PM Like CoD? Interesting. They won't do it, but it might be fun if it was there. Sir Lucius 11-05-2003, 01:59 PM You could actually do some pretty neat stuff: like a disc cam on MA, where you get to follow the projectile's viewpoint flying into your body. PyroTeknik 11-05-2003, 02:11 PM A disc cam would be hilarious. Even funnier would be a mortar cam. |MrSniper|Nyx 11-05-2003, 02:33 PM A disc cam would be hilarious. Even funnier would be a mortar cam. TKB practice mod had mortar cam... fun stuff :D edit: TKB not KGB, sorry. Been too long since I played comp and cared. ZProtoss 11-05-2003, 04:21 PM Actually that was TKB practice mod, not KGB (no such thing). KGB practice mod had mortar cam... fun stuff :D Ixiterra 11-05-2003, 04:28 PM Actually that was TKB practice mod, not KGB (no such thing). Actually, learn how to fucking quote before the post so we know immediately what you're talking about. ZProtoss 11-05-2003, 04:46 PM Actually, thanks for adding nothing but meaningless babble to the thread as usual. Jelly 11-05-2003, 05:10 PM That would be a great idea, and very fun to use ZProtoss 11-05-2003, 05:24 PM I'm a moron because you don't like the way I quote? Man, you have issues. Thanks for being a moron. Rilke 11-05-2003, 05:35 PM I'm a moron because you don't like the way I quote? Man, you have issues. It's curious how you do that, though ZP. What is your reason for blocking text after your response thereto? If you answer incorrectly I will shit fire on you because the kung pao chicken I had today was glowing red with chee-lay. Virtus 11-05-2003, 06:43 PM Killcam + rocketpods = teh win Sir Lucius 11-05-2003, 07:04 PM Killcam + rocketpods = teh win And if we had quantum computers it would split your screen into six sections gving each rocket pod it's own camera. Slurp 11-05-2003, 07:34 PM imho, I'd rather respawn and retaliate, then watch myself die. But yeah...the kill cam is an awesome feature of COD. Best thing to happen to FPSes in awhile. ZProtoss 11-06-2003, 04:34 AM It's worth noting though, that a kill cam would only be useful for observers (shoutcast purposes), or for some type of gametype that would have a respawn timer. (I'm presuming CoD has some type of respawn timer like all other games of its specific genre). Since it doesen't make sense to watch yourself die when you could immediately be back up, respawned, etc. Works in games with a respawn timer, wouldn't be used except by newbies (which would degrade pub quality), in games without one. However, It'd have some neat shoutcast potential if the observer mode could say que how a flag carrier died in some type of viewing list, then play it back when that certain play is over. As in, Flag Carrier A is heading home, Flag Carrier A gets utterly destroyed by some ridiculous lucky 350 + MA, shoutcaster follows play until flag is return, then replays a disc cam type shot of the MA. Now that'd be interesting. Hum. VaporTrail 11-06-2003, 10:18 AM A Demo "Killcam" mode might be decent, if someone can figure out how to make it work. Basically the demo is a pared down record of all the movements and shots of every player etc. right? So is temporarily changing the viewpoint focus of the camera that hard? (course I'm not a coder, so I just get the wacky ideas... the coders are supposed to implement them :)) The Demo Killcam could work like this: (excuse the vague terms) Select On or Off before playing the demo. The demo plays until you make a kill, it then pauses. The Killcam demo has been playing along (but not displaying) a set distance behind (10 seconds or so) and switching to the viewpoint of the "killed" person when the normal demo gets to them. This allows you see the killshot from the victim's perspective. Viewpoint center should be on the victim, viewpoint focus should be on the player firing the kill shot (the demo taker) or the shot itself. This way you get to see those long range MA mortars arc in and BOOM! Now that'd be interesting. Hum. Simple solution although I'm sure some people won't like it: Just add a 5 second respond delay. Then people will watch the camera and newbies will learn something from this (I'd hope) and it adds an incentive to not die. Like when heavies are in your base so you run right at them and hope that they die because you know you can respawn immeadiatly anyways. VaporTrail 11-06-2003, 10:26 AM Problem with that Myrm, is all the competition people who are so used to being able to Ctrl+k and respawn nearly instantly. Unless you meant to specifically exclude the ctrl+k from the respawn delay (but that just means anyone who gets on the ass end of a fight will just ctrl+K to bypass the respawn timer. Not conducive to having awesome shots made in competition). ZProtoss 11-06-2003, 02:06 PM It's not worth making a massive gameplay change like that for something that has no bearing on gameplay at all.
