I can't get Halflife to update... any help?

I just purchased the new platinum halflife set with like counterstrike and the rest of the half life games in it. I installed all 5 discs and tried to play but i dont have the current version, so i used the sierra utilities to update like the book says to, but it says it can't find an internet connection... Which is obviously working but for some reason it can't find. So i clicked on help and went to trouble shooting. This is what it says, "The SIGS server requires a 32-bit WinSock DLL. The WSOCK32.DLL file may exist in your computer's WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, but your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may not be accessing this DLL."

how can i get the update to work?

i seem to recall having some sort of problem with the included auto updater also until i did some googling and sierra support site searching for that.

As far as halflife platinum (any version)
If you want halflife and online play for it and counterstrike, just install the ORANGE game of the year disc and all parts of the blue shift disc.
Don't do any of the others.
The blue tfc disc, is just an earlier patch that included TFC.
The green OppForces disc is the opp forces expansion pack, if you install the blue blue shift disc, it comes with opposing forces on it.

Will theoretically update any version of halflife.
Then get the full mod version of CS 1.5 The CS on the disc you got is the CS Retail, which usually requires not only finding a different patch when they're released, but additional map packs.
Though, if you're going to be playing for a while, I'd recomend just skipping that and getting the steam full cache (which includes all the mods you want to play). http://www.fileplanet.com/files/130000/130416.shtml
