all these years... i cant think of a single place/storefront that might have what im looking for... to build a rig.

if i could find these 2 peices... in a shop, id walk out with them and a lot more.

MSI 865PE NEO2-FIS2R
Pentium4 3.0CGHz 512k HT 800 MHz

ANYBODY know a place to call or where to look?

there's plenty of places to walk out with those parts, but you might as well order them online because they're cheaper.

name one :D

im quite amazed at how hard it is to find, actually.

if i could find a pimp cpu/mobo/corsair bundle in nyc, id go there right now.

wander around queens some, there's plenty of corner stores. i can't NAME one because i don't buy from them anymore. stuff is overpriced. but i drive past them in flushing all the time.

on the plus side you don't have to pay tax if you bring cash for most of those places because they're shady like that. but on the downside most of them don't speak english that well.

if you're looking for something in manhattan, that's a bit more different. rent is too expensive to run a store like that in most areas.

some manhattan shops, just for the record (in case somebody else happens to be looking and does a search)

* Datavision http://www.datavis.com
lots of components and gear. slightly overpriced and in times square area, but definately a place to bookmark if you need stuff.

* J & R http://www.jandr.com/
the mega-mall of nyc electronics. city hall area. they have a whole block of related stores, and the computer one is 5 flights tall with just about anything you are looking for. a tad bare on core cpu/mobo components, but flush on most other stuff (including many aisles of MP3s players and stuff like that)

* pcexpert http://www.pcexpertny.com
(no idea, will be exploring more)

* NYIndustries http://www.nyipc.com/
(web site seems wack, but i was in the store and they seem like a nice place who do custom stuff, but dont expect top gear in stock)

* superior tech http://www.superiortechnologynyc .com
(no idea, mag shows a large selection of components)

* madison http://www.computernyc.com/
(unknown)

i have a feeling those places would charge an arm and a leg in manhattan too, just because they can.

why are you not just ordering from newegg?
