cant run 3Dmark 2001 se

i installed 3d mark 2001 se and when i try to run it i get this error:

when i run dxdiag, it says i have dx 9.0b installed, but i know i have installed 8.1 in the past(doesnt it come with winxp?).

here are my system specs:
P4 2.4c
abit is7-g(865)
512mb corsair xms ddr400
radeon AIW 9800pro
audigy 2 zs
windows xp pro x/ sp1

i can run 3d mark 2k3 and get near 6000. but i'd like to see how high i get on 2k1. any ideas?

yea, i have cat 3.8 installed right now

i was running omega's 3.4 till then, but i had the same problem before.
