HELP, My connection is horrible

First my information
Card: Intel(R) PROset 100
Router: Speedstream
Modem: Surfboard

I checked DSL reports before I made any changes, the results were
2407DL and 143UL

I then used the DRTCP021 app, did a few minor tweaks and tried updating the drivers. Now it's,

2800DL and 141UL

Another person in same town as me is getting
4923DL and 952UL

At the time, only 2 of my PC's are up instead of 3 on my router.

Any suggestions? I don't see why someone in the same town as me is getting more than double what I am.

Is that DSL service?

Just because you're in the same town doesn't mean anything.

It has to do with the distance you are from your CO as well as what package you're paying for.

We're both using optium online. And the town I live in is only 1.6 square miles. I'll try without the router and see what my response is.
