Vibrating cursor with MX500

Sometimes when I stop moving my mouse the cursor starts to rapidly vibrate. I have to move the mouse a little bit to get it to stop. It's really annoying when I lead a target when I'm sniping, stopping the cursor slightly ahead of the target. My screen shakes enough to make me miss the shot. Also, if I leave my computer when the cursor is shaking, my computer won't go into power saving mode because of the mouse movement. It's very annoying.

I suspect that this is caused by my mouse having a dirty laser eye. What's the best way to clean this?

I'm using a Logitech MX500 with a Ratpadz GS. This problem started about a month after I bought the mouse. It has been slowly increasing in frequency. Now it happens often enough that I'll need to buy a new mouse if I can't fix this.

Try cleaning the surface of the mousepad and/or checking the eye of your mouse for a small piece of hair stuck in there... Cat hairs are killer. :)

Use a different surface.
