Maybe I'm dumb...wireless networking / Linksys sucks

So my boss bought a wireless setup for his house from a guy he doesn't like anymore...so the burden of fixing it falls on me. Whatever is going on, I'm dealing with http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=544 , which is the Linksys BEFW11S4 DSL/Cable Router.

It appears to get along ok with the cable modem both at my Boss' house and mine, however I can't confirm this because it won't give me an IP Address...either at my house of my boss'...in any of the ethernet ports in the back (its got 4 ethernet ports in addition to the wireless). I've followed their instructions, released, renewed, rebooted everything 100 times...tried it just unplugged from the cable to see if that was causing a problem with it handing out an IP Address.

Because I know Data will yell at me for not posting useless information :), my setup:

WinXP
Netgear FA311 NIC

I've also tried with a Belkin USB NIC on a completely different machine (still XP).

Any way to tell if he broke the router? I know everything else in my setup works because right now I'm on my NETGEAR hub and router...

I hate Linksys

I got rid of my Linksys and got a D-Link 802.11a/b router. Much happier.

linksys is the via of networking.

Usually everything works wonderfully, they have hundred thousands of happy customers.

But then you get someone like me who had such an abominable pos as to never desire to touch their product again.

linksys gives 24/7 tech call them and yell at em...

Linksys is ok, netgear is the best, d-link is good for the price.
