$2K?
what's up big fat fucking rip off.
newegg won't build it for you, but it costs $1,103.99 pre-shipping (and tax if applicable)
I have no idea where you're getting your shit from, but the above prices are from NewEgg AND I've given you 512MB (2x as much as wherever you're looking) of FASTER BETTER memory from Corsair. I've also given you a CDRW drive on top of that DVD drive.
And I've given you an 80GB hard drive.
Pay a friend to put it together for $50-100. Buy a monitor from somewhere you want.
Anyway you cut it, wherever you got your quote from should go fuck themselves.

blargh, you should have said that sooner, it's not THAT bad now, but still kind of sucky.
i'll tack on $400 to my $100 price and let's say you get a really nice brand name 19 inch monitor. That's $1500.
Converted to Canadian, that's $1987 canadian dollars for high quality parts that I've chosen. That motherboard you have listed uses the VIA chipset, mine uses nForce2, and the memory you have is slower and 1/2 the amount, you're missing a cd writer, as well as a hard drive.
DarKSouL_BC 10-14-2003, 05:26 PM what kind of ram would u suggest?
iNVAR 10-14-2003, 05:26 PM exactly what i listed is what i suggest. i hand picked those components for you right now. (i think i forgot to match the color of the cdrw/dvdrom drive with your case, which is black...)
p.s. that heatsink/fan is socket 370. athlons are socket A. you can't simply take one and put it on the other. plus i chose a retail package for you, which means it already comes with HSF. unless you're OCing, you won't need another one.
[HvC]Scuba 10-14-2003, 05:34 PM I would make sure that the the PSU that comes with the case isn't a giant piece of shit. Most of the chieftec/chenming cases that come with included power supplies, are shipping with crap in them.
DarKSouL_BC 10-14-2003, 05:39 PM oh really? thanks ;]

yeah i hear ya. might want to get a case without the PS and buy the PS separately.
DarKSouL_BC 10-14-2003, 05:45 PM they have it so u can buy it without, so i'll do that.
hows this ram?
CORSAIR PC2700 CAS2 256MB DDR CMX256A-2700C2PT W/ SILVER HEAT SPREADER
iNVAR 10-14-2003, 05:45 PM i told you what to buy for ram already.
either what i said, or this one:
CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series, Low Latency 256MB 32MX64 PC-3200LL With Heat Spreaders. $77 each
the only difference between this one and the one i said before is that this one has timings of 2-3-2-6 and the other has 2-3-3-6
DarKSouL_BC 10-14-2003, 06:10 PM sapphire is better?
iNVAR 10-14-2003, 06:12 PM it's just a different manufacturer. it's still ATI chipset.
if you want, you can buy some other 9800. just do a search on Newegg. make sure it's 9800 PRO though.
[HvC]Scuba 10-14-2003, 06:53 PM For a good reliable PSU at a good price, look here: http://www.neutronexpress.com/prod.cfm/196242/ANTEC/SL450/POWER_SUPPLY_450W_ATX_12V _2_DUAL_FAN_UL
Or you can spend more and get an Enermax, they are great, but pricey.
