Hard locks in Tribes 2

One of my members just rebuilt his computer, new xp install new GF4200 recommended settings and latest drivers for everything.

But now when he goes into a server it locks or stutters when ever action happens on screen (explosions and such) any thoughts on how to fix?

Reinstall Tribes?

I know Data but I don't have much more to give

I know his card it's a new gf4200 and his sound is a herc gametheater xp

oh and he uses a highpoint raid controller

All I can say is make sure DirectX 9a is installed, AA off.

Is it just T2?

i'm panda's teammate; he posted for me because TW took about a week to send me an activation e-mail. I finally got it, so I figured i would hop on the thread.

just in time for me to say that i solved my problem. what was happening was a weird conflict between T2, my Highpoint RAID controller, and WinXP. T2 was the only game that had this problem, and it was solved by removing a file (hptpro.sys) from the winxp\system32\drivers\ directory (a fix i found on planettribes). it doesn't disable the raid, and it solves the problem. my guess is that xp, in its infinite capacity to manage 3rd party drivers (read: no capacity at all) didn't use the driver that I gave it, even though it said it was. that was cute. and i had just removed ACPI from xp to try to resolve what i thought was an irq conflict.

ANYWAY, my problem is solved. just wanted to follow up.

I know you've already fixed it, but did it sound familiar to these?

I've sinced fixed my problem, but unintentionally. I've also upgraded a few parts as well.
