T2 v-sync/tearing problem

Even though I have v-sync forced in the display properties, I always get tearing in Tribes 2. No other OpenGL games that I play have this problem. Is there anyways to force v-sync within Tribes 2 itself?

In the OpenGL settings I have AA and AF set to app preference, textures set to performance, and mipmap set to high quality. In Tribes2 I have everything basically maxed except for texture quality I have at about 85% to kill the slight stuttering I was getting.

Is there not a setting for Vertical Sync in T2 options?

I could have sworn there was... :hrm:

I think there is, and if there is, I have it enabled for sure. That's why the tearing is such a mystery to me...

The menu is only fucked if you turn on AA. I don't turn it on on for that exact reason. If it's not turned on, the menu is perfectly fine.

Even though I am a "member" here, I'm not a brand new computer user, nor do I have my head up my ass. Well, not usually...

It is totally tearing that I am experiencing. It's in-game and looks like crap. The odd thing about it is that it is always exactly the same no matter what. From what I remember from other games when I didn't have v-sync on, it would be somewhat random as to where the "tear" occurred on the screen. In T2, it is always about 1/3 of the way down the screen and is straight across from left to right, but then about 3/4 of the way across the screen, it jags up and back to the left about a half inch, then continues back to the right side of the screen. It just seems odd that this is the only game I have that has this problem...

I guess I could try reinstalling. As for custom textures, I have only installed some new weapon skins and a new hud, but that was done after I had already noticed the tearing. I'll try the reinstall tonight. Although, new Catalysts should be out today so maybe I will try the new video drivers first.

Well, I'm not exactly sure why it stopped, but it did. I had installed the new Catalyst 3.8 drivers and the tearing was still there, but it was on the lower part of the screen instead of the upper. So I went into the display settings in T2, toggled the vertical sync setting a couple times, changed the resolution down to 1024 and then back to 1280 and the tearing is gone. :) So whether it is a combination of things, or maybe it just needed to have the resolution changed to apply the settings fully, I'm not sure, but at least it works now.
