Hello friends of TySoft,

Lately I've been hard at work on my latest project - ServerSeed.com (http://www.serverseed.com). With SS, I'm aiming to provide top notch webhosting, with a great feature package to gamers and/or the tech enthusiast at an affordble price - everything I personally want in a web host.

Being that I love TW so much, I'd like to offer SS hosting to TW at a reduced price. Granted, the price difference isn't huge, but I feel the inital prices are quite fair. And, if you don't like the prices (or need more bandwidth/webspace for whatever reason), I'm sure we can work together and cut a deal that'll make you happy!

A detailed overview of the plans I offer can be found here (http://www.serverseed.com/plans.html). Ignore those prices though, they aren't the TW-ified ones.

TW pricing can be found here (https://serverseed.com/tw_signup.php).

Main feature points (light[$3.95/mo]/medium[$6.95/mo]/heavy[$9.95/mo] plans - named after Tribal armors!):

6gb/12gb/20gb Transfer/mo
150/250/400mb Webspace
5/Unlimited /Unlimited mySQL DBs
cPanel admin interface try a demo of it! (http://www.serverseed.com:2082) username and password is demo
Fantastico - easily lets you install and configure tons of nifty scripts (super easy, it's really great). You can check it out in the cPanel demo, there is also a list of what it lets you do on the detailed plans page.
Urchin 5.0 web analytics software - this is a feature packed commercial stats package. Presents tons of data in an interactive Adobe SVG based display. (SS also provides Analog, Awstats and Webalizer - but they are amateur compared to Urchin).
PHP 4.3.3
Webmail (obviously in addition to POP3 accounts) - NeoMail, horde and SquirrelMail as your webmail clients.
And more, less interesting stuff.

If you're in the market for web hosting, I ask that you at least take a look at ServerSeed! You won't be sorry.

If you're up for it, you can order via Paypal subscription (with TW rates) right here (https://serverseed.com/tw_signup.php).

Feel free to post in this thread, PM me, or email me (tlott@serverseed.com) with any questions or comments!

Oh, if you want to test out the server's transfer speed - you can nab my, uh, Tribes 2 movie from a long time ago - it's 130mb of stress test love. Beware, the movie is CkB-style. http://www.tysoft.org/TySofts_Movie.avi

UPDATE, OMG!

I bumped up the bandwidth on all plans, I was being too stingy before.

Light plan is now 10gb transfer (vs 6)!
Medium is 20gb (vs 12)
Heavy is 35gb (vs 20) and heavy now has 500mb webspace (vs 400)!

Pretty close to unbeatable now :)

Wow. Thats awesome.

Um. Expect a paypal this friday after I deposit my check.

I've got one question actually:

Are those strict plans? Like... I'd need the storage and bandwidth of the Heavy plan, but only the ftp accounts and mysql DB's of the light plan...

get what I'm saying?

Ty, how about some CkB loving for me?

I may need you to hook me up.

the plan is pretty much based on bandwidth, space, needing less sql databases and ftps wouldn't make it cheaper, bandwidth is their major cost.

Like Skibbi said, bandwidth is the major expense on my end, so reducing FTP accounts or SQL dbs wouldn't really influence the price. But to compensate, I'll bump your bandwidth and storage up a bit.

What about domain registration, Ty?

TySoft
09-17-2003, 04:23 PM
Not doing domain registration at this time, with companies like Rackshack offering registration for $5/year I don't see the point.

OK. Do you recommend that I have a domain setup?

If I don't have a domain, what would my URL look like?

Is there anyone besides Rackshack that I should check out?

www.GoDaddy.com is another reputable registrar, but Rackshack is hands down the lowest price. Without a domain name it'd be yourname.serverseed.com (and emails would be data@yourname.serverseed. com which is no fun). I'd definately get a domain name for yourself, as you can use it later on with any other host.

What pipe is this host sitting on?

TySoft

The datacenter has several GigE pipes, located in TX.

I wish I had a connection at home capable of 2.3 megabytes/s :(

Sounds good Ty. I'm definitely onboard but I need to wait for my next paycheck on the 1st. Can I pay for 6 months in advance? How does that work?

So far I've been using simple PayPal subscriptions. Has surprised me how smoothly everything has been so far. Will be accepting credit cards soon, but for now just PayPal. Only have quarterly and monthly payments up right now, but that's no problem - takes 5 seconds to generate a subscription link for 6 months.
