destroyer193 09-14-2003, 11:59 PM I was just thinking of this while playing deathball for ut2k3.
Anyway, what it does, is when your charging up to shoot the ball, you can shape it left or right. I thought this would have been a little cool in some ways. It might not be nesescary (sp?!), but it could be a cool function shaping your grenade lob to bounce of a wall or something to that effect.

Explain, in proper english, please. I read your post three times and have only a vague idea of what you mean. Are you saying that you want to be able to change the shape of your grenade to give it different bounce-physics depending on what direction you throw it and what surfaces it strikes?
d3FiLeD 09-15-2003, 01:46 AM i think he means curve the shot?
Deceptikon 09-15-2003, 04:24 AM what
It's like whittling. You use Exacto knives to carve out a detailed, complex shot into the weapon before firing.
Amadeus 09-15-2003, 10:06 AM And how exactly do you imagine to do that? I mean hold down a cursor while shooting, or what?

MSpaint opens up, you draw and save the shape of your shot, then import it to the game, and fire.
commonsense 09-15-2003, 01:06 PM How do you make the shot curve?
And what shots would you allow curving for?
I'm just asking.
Shoddy 09-15-2003, 01:52 PM One could envision a U shaped curve indicator. The bottom/rest position is straight ahead. Hold a key to pull the indicator up to the left, resulting in a shot that curves to the right (or the left, whatever seems more natural). But it takes like a second to move up there so if you wanted a shallower curve you could shoot while it's on the way up. Release the key to float back down to center point. Different key for the opposite side.
Wouldn't think it would be useful for weapons, but maybe for the flag in something like TR2.
This is dumb, and defies the KISS principle.

not in some ways. You could use the scroll mouse, scroll up shapes left, scroll down shapes right.
if you have ut2k3 go download www.deathball.net
you will see what im talking about. Im just throwing ideas into the air.

Would be too complicated.
Amadeus 09-16-2003, 01:25 AM Such a feature may be significant in Deathball (dunno, never played it), but it is certain that it would never be used in a real Tribes match. To begin with, the only weapons you could apply this to are hand nade, grenade launcher and mortar. The mortar practically does not bounce, so there will be no point to making it curve. The hand grenade is the same, it does not bounce too much, and it explodes after a very short time, so even if it would bounce and curve, it wouldn't have too much of an effect on where it explodes. The grenade launcher might be able to do that, but then again, this feature would add unneeded complexity to the game, and probably noone would actually use it in a real game.
