What does it do? wtf is it good for? as some one told me "this is the kidna thing that was needed 4 years ago"
To make it simple to under stand for most people, "Tribes Live" is a program that enables you to join a server running ANY Tribes one maps especially client-side maps. An a whole new wolrd of custom buildings etc can be used on any map and any map or terain can be edited, and any body using Tribes Live can join in and check out ANY sweet ass new map!

I plan on posting a list of maps that have been added but i don't have the time. If you have time pleae volunteer it to help document map files.

OMG you guys SUCK. I saw this come up on twIRC and thought it said "Tribes: Vengeance beta released!" Thx for getting me all excited over nothing.
BTW seems like a sweet program, too bad I don't play T1 anymore.

Who controls the list of programs availible to download? Is it a P2P thing or is a list on your server or something?

the guy who created it controls the map list. It is not P2P.
it is like autodownload.
Tribes 2 already has autodownload so there is no point making this for tribes 2.
IT DOWNLOADS STUFF FOR YOU - so you don't have to think.

My only question is what happens when you join a server with an older version of a map? Or a new map is released but some servers still run the old map, but I have the new one on my client?
Does it re-download the old one as well?

yes, kinda like what t2 has except this one doesn't wait till you join a server to download the maps, so you can join in a game faster.

First off its not a list of "programs" its a list of "maps" no, if it was p2p there would be 40 diffrent versions of the exact same raindance. A list of files can be viewed on http://tribeslive.uphorium.com If you would like to submit map files please read the projects page of www.bst.epac.tp and upload the appropriate files it to the submitions folder on the ftp server of ftp://www.bst.epac.to General rule: when submitting a file, check to make shure that if you have made files that there are not already files by that name already on the server. If you are posting a new version of a map give it a new name (eg Raindance_rockies becomes Raindance_rockies_2) or if you are posting a new volume of prefabs scripts etc... ---No mods (annihilation, ultra....) please i will not add them--- rebuild the volume from scratch to ashure there are no "holes" in it.

If the author is giving the newer version of the map a diffrent name (as in the e.g. above "Raindance_rockies becomes Raindance_rockies_2"). As long as the server operator keeps the maps that they run on the server up to date (I do ask that server admins try to run Tribes Live once a week or so.)
*In short, as long as the map's author gives the new version of the map a diffrent name then there is no problems (eg Raindance_rockies newer version becomes Raindance_rockies_2)

I'm surprised there hasn't been more posts here... acording to some server stats theres been about 170 complete updates...

Well if any one has some features that they would like to see in the next tribes live version send me an email or an im i normally leave them on 24-7

You do realise you have write access to the map directory, I dont know of thats intentional or not :P
