ugh - miscommunication issue, lost files, need help

K. Heres the story: I was given a laptop from a friend of my mom. At first, i was told not to delete stuff yet. A few days later my mom came home and said i could delete anything i want, so i did. Well apparently that wasnt what i was supposed to be told. I deleted important shit and emptied recycle bin, and now i need someone to help me with the brain surgery that is retrieving files from DOS. Come find me in IRC if you can help.

It is quite possible. A quick google of "file recovery software" brings up a bunch of results.

fast file recovery http://www.dtidata.com/ i used it 2 days ago on a system, works well.

thanks guys. i'm just using "GetDataBack for NTFS". running it right now, since the 56k internet connection on this old-as-dirt 2gb HD Pentium 166 cant stay online for more than 10 minnutes, i had to use like 4 old floppies.
