Freezing a Harddrive.Dark Volcanic 08-23-2003, 06:17 PM Okay, I have read that if I freeze a hard drive in a freezer, if it were having friction issues, would the freezing actually compact the parts enough to reduce friction for long enough to retrieve data without causing data loss? I know it sounds kind of stupid, but, in theory it makes sense. Dark Volcanic 08-25-2003, 02:34 PM It worked for me... but I had to let it warm up a little, the drive would not even turn on until I let it get warmed up.
