trying to clear out my hard drive.
short of it is, there is a file i can't delete. when i try to manually delete it from dos, i get a "filename too long" error. same happens when i try to rename it in dos.
can't delete or rename it from windows either (duh).
help!
If it's not in a system directory...
Move everything ELSE out of the folder, then deltree the folder from a command window.
OR just rename the folder to "DELETE ME" or whatever, move all the good files to a NEW folder named the same as the old one, and deltree from a command window.

deltree doesn't come with XP
but whatever, do what data says, sort of.
move the files out of the directory, and go into it using a command prompt (start->run->cmd... NOT command) and then do a del * (which will delete everything) and see what happens.
what's the filename anyway?

he did nab a lot from me at uva
I run into this problem quite a lot (happens when you do a lot of data in xp)
the best fix: there isn't one, but i use fileshredder (that is in tweakxp) and just shred it through that, works everytime.

i'm pretty sure it has to do with xp trying to thumbnail, something like that..
