Those people must've forgotten what it was like to LEARN to LANCE --> it took me 2 weeks to get the timing down. Even now, I still miss half the time... Yeah, I occasionally backlance incoming HO waves, but that's because they're LAME and don't watch out for LD like me wit ma lance.
So, PLEASE leave my SL alone.

I like the lance because it's a challenging weapon. Powerful in the hands of someone skilled with it, and nearly useless in the hands of someone who isn't. I think it exemplifies the learning curve that in part makes tribes what it is.
At the same time i wouldn't complain if the damage was toned down, or the back lance kill shot was removed. I kind of like that a lance in the back does more damage though. Maybe like 75% of a heavy in the back and 25-30% from the front or side.

edit2: tbh i would rather see a weapon that could only connect when you collided with a player.. kinda like the gauntlet in quake. Would make BBing very cool :P

Sigma8 07-15-2003, 04:32 PM I don't mind getting lanced when I'm inside the enemy base, destroying generators...but I hate getting lanced when I'm in a heavy, making my way outside from point A to point B by some ass who was camping outside my base (e.g. the remote base in Kata).
I think that cloaked ppl w/shocklances are good overall to have in T2, they're an extra thing to keep on your toes for. That being said, I think there should be some additional options for detecting them other than planting a turret and a motion sensor behind your back, or carrying a sensor jammer and pirouhetting. Maybe some sort of personal motion-sensor pack would be cool. Give you a little aliens-like readout in the corner, and let you know if anything is coming up behind you. Since it'd be useless in combat, hopefully it wouldn't use any extra energy.

Plus it was more of a ping weapon than anything, which made it extra lame. It WAS a skill weapon on 56k.
It was pretty funny in Arena, though.

And after you release the demo of you hitting people with the SL, please go install the demo recording umod for UT and show me you just headshotting everybody on a CTF server called ZooZ, where there is people who know what the fuck they're doing. I'll be waiting patiently for your pro skills to be displayed. /me holds breath.
As for the shocklance, I say nix it. Hell pretty much scrap anything from t2. The last thing we need is to be reminded of that glorious game. :rolleyes:
