Video Card Problems

I reformated my computer and reinstalled tribes on it.
I updated drivers for my gfx card, and had all the same properties in tribes as before the format.

The problem is that it acts like it's trying to use a vid card that isn't there, it's all choppy and horribly slow (this is just going through menus).

When I try to run it in software mode my monitor starts flickering black and a lighter black and I have to ctrl+alt+del to get out of it.

GeForce 2 MX 400

Any help is appreciated

You install the most recent chipset drivers?

I just had a problem exactly like this. GeForce 4 Ti 4600 was doing it. Turned out it was actually simple. The video card fan had gone out. Card was overheating and causing the "jerkiness" you are referring to. Try popping open your case and then booting up your computer. If your vid card fan is out your SOL. Either you "rig" it or you have to send it in. Fucking 3 dollar fan on my card is costing me $20 to get replaced. Bastards.

That's probably your problem, but I don't suppose you have any idea what kind of motherboard you have...?

you can buy those 3 dollar fans, and put it on yourself...

I'm pretty sure it's not the fan

And my MB is an ASUS P3V133

Find drivers for it and install them.

I'm A+ certified bro ;). If the fans weren't proprietary to the card rest assured I would have done it myself ;)

Do any other OpenGL games have problems?
Have you tried SW mode?

They are "motherboard" drivers. They are actually chipset drivers.
