Can you find the part of the Official Laws of Forum War that says you're not allowed to harass forum admins? In fact, can you find the Official Laws at all? No, because there fucking are none. If making phone threats is crossing the line, then why isn't visiting people at their home crossing the line? Why isn't bring down someone's server with search requests crossing the line? That has nothing to do with flaming, spamming, or anything else, and a lab monkey could do it.

What it really comes down to is this: F4$ was willing to go farther than TW. When they did, Col folded like a cardboard box, took the forum down, and announced their victory. That's it. You lost.

The only way TW can save face now is if Col can get this guy busted for making phone threats. If he does, I'll take the sig down. Until then it stays.

I haven't read the whole thread, and I think I've pieced together somewhat of the things that happened. Nspectre, being honest, what you did was just plain dumb. I won't go into any legal possibilities as it is not my job to do so, and I don't want anyone reading this forum to get any ideas (at least, I don't want to give them any ideas).

As far as Col is concerned with the phone calls. I'm not sure exactly of the facts surrounding the phone calls, but some states, I know that my state, Texas, in particular, actually has a separate provision in the Penal Code (Criminal Statutes) regarding "harrassment." Generally it entails allowing the phone of someone else to ring repeatedly or calling excessively with the intent to annoy, vex or harrass. At best, I imagine it would amount to no more than a Class B ($1000 fine and/or up to 6 months in county jail in Texas) or Class A misdemeanor ($1000 fine and/or up to one year in county jail in Texa), or its equivalent in Col's state.
Simple threats alone (specifically, words alone) are not enough to amount to any type of criminal assault or even a tortious assault. It would require some overt act taken in furtherance of the threatened action for tortious liability, and some actual physical harm for criminal liability, generally speaking.

Summary: Nspectre made a foolish decision. The "Jeremy" guy may possibly have violated a criminal statute relating to "harrassment" if such a criminal statute is applicable in Col's state. But "jeremy" has not done enough to be either civily or criminally liable for any kind of assault. Threats alone are not enough (unless something like a threat of a hoax bomb, or simulated substance (bioligical,radiological or some other dangerous substance, etc.)
If anything, Col should check his local Criminal Code or Penal code to check if something along the lines of "harrassment" exists in his state.

Edit: Generally speaking, I think everyone should also realize that just because they are posting on this forum on the internet does not make them immune to criminal or civil liability if applicable. Remember that things such as tortious invasion of privacy, defamation and libel can apply to the things that people write on this forum. Just be prepared to accept whatever consequences may result from your postings on this or any internet forum.
