Ok I heard Sarca make reference to this long ago when he had the purple terrain on Snowblind and it really caught my attention. Just saw Deceptikon's post and it has resparked that interest. Anyone out there who can help explain the process of creating your own custom T1 palletes?

It's extremely hard to do. Tribes won't accept all colors so you can't just throw some colors together. It's extremely hard and unnecessary. Don't even try.

you need to make your custom palette, insert it into all the .ppl files you need it for (which unless youre doing map terrain, is eveyr ppl), then convert your bitmap to a phoenix bitmap and set the pidx to the id of the pal you inserted into the .ppls

but theres a problem with inserting in to the .ppls with only being able to insert so many extra pals, and having software mode/cmd screen go all black. i never got around to figuring out what all the extra header info in the ppls was

oh yea, you also have to convert them with picanew so you can specify the palette id you want the phoenix bitmap to use

otherwise youre limited to the gay defaults in tribestools
