this is somewhat version of the tranq rifle i was doing... i add to make few adjustments due to tribes perspective is different then that of tres's. I added a laser mount to it, thought it would come nifty for those night maps... i'm very sceptitcle about releasing this new idea. if you try it out in servers you may know why. I'll leave it to the commmunity to decide.

It's a mounted laser-sight. I guess it could help you aim a few nanoseconds faster in darker maps (where you wouldn't spot your reticle right away).

yes in-deed it could be considered that way... i know lots of people would jump to that conclusion if they seen it.

also it works well in-doors and well you can see them around corners before you even see them... thats my only main concern.

i attached a laser mount to one of my weapons a while ago and it only diplayed the laser out to about 5ft in front of the player which is nothing considering the size of the maps and all(not to mention it was skinnier then that so even in 1st person it was only a few pixels wide so from med-long distance you couldnt even see it)

yay... now you can find the o snipers...*cough*

seriously tho, i scaled the beam as large as i could(well as long as i could) and it only showed up till 5ft from the player, it just looked cool in first person, as long as you keep it a reasonable size i dont think it even matters whether its on or not

I tried it as well, doesn't seem to help aim really, it actually throws me off a little, maybe I'm not used to it.
having a different style of laser for each weapon would be cool. Then you could tell what weapon the person you are duelling is about to use :P

mine goes farther then 5feet... it may seem that way because if you have an object that is so big and is a model and you are not facing or viewing the bounds area it will dissappear at certain angles... i know this because i done the same concept for the water. this is sometimes the case... however it seems as though its not dissappearing at 5 feet. it seems that way in day maps but if you watch closely specially around buildings cause if shown across the ground or buildings its more visible... but in the air its not...

could this help your aim? possibly if you play extreme mods like ultra renegades where you need to rely on the bullet spread rather then the reticle.

if the beam was fatter would you be able to see it further? or would it still dissapear?
