what does that have to do with the thread

i said the same thing you did to blitz I know you did. I was refering to the "99% rate of failure" comment. That's an awfully broad generalization with little non-anecdotal evidence to back it up, yet it's being presented as truth. Hence, "you aren't always right."

it's pretty much common knowledge that long distance relationships generally don't work out

if you think i'm actually saying "out of every 200 people trying a LDR, only 2 get a good relationship out of it" then get a grip

sigh

The necessary information is that counting by percentage of successful long-term relationships, personal ads and meeting on the net are in the lead by a shitload and meeting at bars is groveling somewhere down in the vicinity of family reunions as an efficient place to meet a future wife.

Meeting at work and weddings are somewhere in the middle, with work being on top. Of course, there aren't that many people TOTAL who meet on the net, it's just the percentual success rate that's good.

But hey, you go ahead and make up whatever numbers fit better into what you already think you know. That's a great way of building your self-confidence, I hear.

uh

i don't know if that post is directed at me

but i wasn't talking about people meeting on the internet

i was talking about long distance relationships where both parties REMAIN a long distance away

i think i mentioned that people who meet on the internet can have a lasting relationship, as long as they actually SEE each other often

"97% of people that meet at family reunions don't get married."
--Gigafool's book of arbitrary numbers, page 172

"46.2% of inter-racial relationships are doomed to fail."
--Gigafool's book of arbitrary numbers, page 51

"100% of T2 players are gay."

Long distance relationships where both parties remain a long distance away aren't really ever relationships. They're more like bookings. Even the definition of an LDR sort of includes the people actually meeting on occasion.

obviously, but during the length of the LDR, both people live a good distance away, so they don't see each other as often as normal relationships, which hurts the entire thing.

i don't think i've seen a single LDR in my entire life work without one of the people cheating. a few of them were like "well we can cheat on each other but once we live closer we'll be monogamous"

lol
