Also, how many dead pixels are there? Ive researched this monitor for about an hour, and it seems they all suffer from it.

my refs are few, unfortunately. i have done several transactions, but i did not find out about heatware until recently. if it makes you more confortable, i can give you my phone number and you can talk to me over the phone. that seems to help people out. i have done several transactions over $500 and they have all gone great. i know that i have no way to back this up, but i am just telling you the way that it is. you can check my ebay account (atomon89) but it only has two feedback on it (both positive).

to address the second issue, you need to either buy a special video card or the SGI Multilink Adapter. you can find the video card on ebay. The card is called the 3DLabs Oxygen VX1-1600SW. the SGI Multilink Adapter can be bought directly from SGI. dont be fooled, this monitor is well worth it. the picture on it is stunning and the wide screen makes for an incredible effect.

Do you have the adapter, or special card? :( Interested in anything else, or just want cash.

From what I've seen, that video card is $200-300 and the adapter is closer to $500. You must have one or the other to use this LCD?

i was going to say cash only, but if you can give me a hard drive or another good deal i might consider it.

yes, the adapter is $500, so i would not reccommend going that way. the video card that i mentioned is generally $200-$300, but new ones come on ebay all the time. if you watch ebay closely and email someone an offer as soon as the auction comes out you will most likely be able to get a better deal. there are several other video cards that are compatable with this monitor, but this video card is the best. they have a full list on their website.

Oh.. well then Im sorry but no longer interested. $500 for an adapter is retarded. :(

an SGI video card is built for an SGI workstation, and afaik wouldn't take well to working with PC. I could be wrong on this of course, but I was under the impression that that's really the only reason SGI video cards (which fucking haul ass) aren't being sold like crazy.

That's probably also why the adapter will cost you more thant the card itself.

While this is a fair price for a monitor like this (considering retail + the quality of it) I wouldn't pay that. A 19" CRT may be the same actual screen space, but it feels much more workable on the CRT. These 17" diagonal widescreen LCDs feel very cramped to me (having worked with them personally). The diagonal viewable may be similar to a 19" (although mine is 18.1 viewable, not 17.3) but it's shorter and wider by enough to annoy me.

This one is 1600x1024, which isn't as bad as some that I've seen (think 1600x768). So this one should still feel pretty decent as far as workability.

as far as i know, the video card should work just fine in a regular PC. i used to know someone who had two of these monitors with two of the video cards in his PC and they ran together beautifully. he was very happy.

anyhow, i'm lowering the price to $500.
