I have a question about the nforce 2 chipset. I read somewhere that it requires 2-dimms like back in the old days. Is this true? Also, will it accept standard SDRAM or will it only accept DDR? Any suggestions would be helpful here.

no u can use one stick if u want to run the system like normal, but if u want to use "duel channel DDR" feature u have to use two same type sticks of ram, and no u cant use SDRAM , only ddr.

hope that helps

And then one more question.

The nforce 2 has onboard GeForce 2 graphics card right?

(My friend has a TNT 2 and he doesnt want to spend money upgrading...but he needs to upgrade that, thats why i told him to get the nforce 2 because i thought it had an onboard GeForce 2.)

From [H]ard|OCP:

The nForce2 IGP packs the power of the NV18 core, also known as the GeForce4 MX series chipset.

Cool, do they all have IGP? Right now I am just looking at getting a cheapy like the Leadtek one. It doesnt say that it has IGP but it says it has SPP+MCP processors. Here is a link:

Maybe someone can decipher if this has (good) integrated graphics or not, because for the life of me I cant figure it out.

I don't think any of the boards out now have graphics.

Look here http://www6.tomshardware.com/mainboard/20021111/index.html
for some info.

If you go to newegg you can read some reviews that users have posted.

Edit:some have on-board video
Look here http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduct.asp?DEPA=&submit=Go&description=nforce2
check card specs for LEADTEK Motherboard K7NCR18G-PRO Nforce2-GT for AMD Socket A Retail

Of course it's only an mx version so your not going to get great performance from it.

SPP is the chipset without video.

Look for IGP.
