I built this PC from scratch. All new parts, new OS.
Specs
========================= =========================
AMD 2400+
Windows XP Pro
Gigabyte GA-7VAXP (http://tw.giga-byte.com/products/7vaxp.htm)
Mushkin 512MB Hi Perf Level2 PC2700 DDR 222 (http://www.mushkin.com/cgi-bin/Mushkin.filereader?3e2308 6a14ee0c06273fc0a8010305a b+EN/products/990927)
WESTERN DIGITAL "SPECIAL EDITION" 80GB 7200RPM EIDE # WD800JB
MSI G4Ti4200, 4X AGP, 128MB DDR, TV-out, DVI ,Retail
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer
Logitech MX 300 Mouse, Standard keyboard
========================= =========================
Problems
========================= =========================
[Mouse]
Doesn’t shut off when PC is shut down.
Where is this control located? Is there one?
[Raid Controller]
The driver will not load. I have tried un-install/re-installing it.
I've downloaded the same driver many times (newest one).
[Soundcard]
The OS and MB will not recognize the card at all.
Any advice, suggestions or solutions is appreciated.

Um optical? It prolly wont shut off if ur PC goes into soft-off or sleep mode. U'd have to power the box down completely. Mine goes off then.

Dunno enough about your board, sorry.

Try putting the card in a different PCI slot, make sure that onboard sound is disabled in BIOS (for now at least... you can re-enable later if you want 2 sound cards), make sure you are loading the correct XP drivers since this card came out after even the newest release of XP.

I assume when you say this, you're refering to a wireless mouse. I'm not familiar with the MX300. The mouse itself should have a sleep mode to preserve battery life. It wouldn't be anything controlled by the motherboard or the OS/software, but something internal to the mouse.

We're talking about the on-board RAID controller, I hope?

Can you tell if the BIOS recognizes it? Your boot sequence may not show it, but some BIOSes will report PCI devices with their IRQ settings during POST.

The mouse problem I have as well with an older P3 I build (its an optical mouse...ya know how the light shuts off when you shut the pc off?)...I've never found a fix.
As for the sound...like was stated, make sure onboard sound is disabled..and make sure your on board RAID is enabled...both in the BIOS.

Yes, that's my problem aswell. Before I built the computer I am using now, I had a Dell, and with that my mouse would always power down when I would shut down, so there has got to be a control for it somewhere..
Thanks for the ideas guys.
USB or PS2?
If its USB, you might look in your BIOS for a "Wake on USB" setting and disable it. That's the only reason I can think of to continue feeding power to a USB device after system shutdown.
If its PS2... Wow. :eek:

It's a USB, but uses a PS2 adapter.
