|baby|roach| 11-21-2002, 03:09 AM Well I just bought a Athlon 2200XP+, Gigabyte GA-7VRXP 8x motherboard, 256MB PC2100 DDR ram and a GF4 ti4200 8xagp videocard.
My fps in t2 seem to drop alot when im moving around.
When im just standing there I get like 56 fps and it drops to like 35-25fps when ever something happens...
Shouldnt I have alot more than 56fps if im just standing around? lol
WTF?
Any ideas to get those FPS up there?
Cobra 11-21-2002, 09:12 AM What setting are you using for AA?
You did reinstall the OS after a motherboard change, right?
:p
You didn't post the drivers you're using either.
Help us help you man. Post this shit from the start and we can get right to troubleshooting.
|baby|roach| 11-21-2002, 02:53 PM After I put everything together I formated my HD and reinstalled everything.
I got all the windows updates besides the latest Servise Pack since my backup copy of XP is considered a pirated version... The drivers im using are the Asus V9280 v31.40
Is that info good :D

PowdaHound 11-21-2002, 04:52 PM 1. Why don't you install your non-backup copy? :ftard:
2. What graphics card drivers are you using?
|baby|roach| 11-21-2002, 05:34 PM graphics card drivers are v31.40
cant find any new ones =/
{BEE}Nomad 11-21-2002, 10:42 PM Hmm ... definitely a problem .. I run a P4 1.8 on a Gigabyte GA-8PE667 ,512 DDR PC 2700 with a GFTi4200 (64MB).. I generally run 60+ in action and 100-170 standing still. Make sure no AA on (you won't notice it IMO) ...could it be more RAM needed ...more RAM is always good. Other than that I really don't why your system isn't cranking out more FPS.
AND .. I just did a full MoBo and CPU change and did not reinstall XP ... so my specs should be similar.
What about that 8X agp ...is that even useable ? Try dropping to 4X and YES Update those drivers ......

Well I DLed the lastes XP Drivers off of www.nvidia.com. I want to get a stick of 512mb 2100 ram. Think that will help my comp alot?
Whats AA? Sorry but im retarded
Im gona play around with it and hope to get everything working. I hope I can get more FPS pumping out of this comp =/
Thanks
{BEE}Nomad 11-22-2002, 03:41 AM Turn of Anitrospic Filtering and Antialiasing settings in your GeForce settings in display properties. They slow down the card considerably and I personally don't think you would notice any difference in quality.

alright
thats what I thought it was but i have no faith in what I think lol
Fonix 11-27-2002, 05:07 PM I would just get the latest drivers off www.guru3d.com and get the latest chipset drivers off www.viaarena.com they have an updated agp driver... will give you like 5-10 more fps, I'd also recomend downloading a geforce tweak utility like rivatuner (@guru3d). It makes adjusting the settings allot easier, make sure antialiasing is OFF.
|baby|roach| 11-27-2002, 10:34 PM Should I use that Detonator Destroyer to get rid of my current drivers before installing the Detonator 41.09 Windows 2000/XP ones? Or can I just install them over the current ones?
On this page" http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2 "
I should just go to the Latest VIA 4in1 Drivers, the "4in1 4.43v.zip"? I should just leave those tweakers section alone?
sorry but I have no faith in what I do so i worry if im gona fuck something out.
Cobra 11-27-2002, 11:29 PM I don't think the det destroyer works in xp yet. Just use add/remove programs in control panel to get rid of the old ones before you install the latest.
Get the latest 4in1 drivers (v4.43). I wouldn't play with the beta versions. The site has instructions you can print out on how to install.

just installing over drivers seems to work fine XP, just make sure all the files have matching version when you're done (display -> settings -> advanced -> name of card -> list of files)
