I recently got my hands on one of these,

I know the pic serves no purpose, felt like it :)
Now I got it off a company getting their hands on new equipment, paid 50$ for it. Yes it works. I'm finally getting around to using it. Now, my problem. I can't seem to connect via console, yes I have the appropriate cable.
In hyperterm, I'm supposed to connect using these settings, 9600 8N1 ANSI. I set all this up, try to connect, and nothing happens. It just keeps trying to connect. I'm obviously missing something really simple here, I tested out the switch itself, it works, but I want access to the console for obvious reasons. I could connect direct if I had the ip addy assigned to it, anyway I could find that out? I'm guessing a port scanner of sorts but that might take a while.
Anyone have any insight?
